Disagree. If he's a good teammate and as some have said, he got bad advice, then I'd hope the coaching staff would welcome him back.

I think a lot of schools have a one way policy on the portal.  Once you declare, you are gone.  No going back and it's made abundantly clear from day one.   That really is a good policy and saves kids from snap decisions.

The fact the portal has not opened yet, and he has not actually entered the portal I would hope they would take him back on the team.  Once they enter the portal I'm ok with saying they are done and not allowed back.

Don't want to set a expectation that if you leave and don't find something better we have a spot still waiting for you.

Maybe they shouldn’t be tweeting about the portal until they’ve formally entered it.  Just a thought.

Yeah those lessons sounds good in theory but in reality subscribing to these principles will only get you beat … kids are welcome back if they can make the team better.

If a program is going to take a hard stance in regards to the portal, then I’m ok with that so long as the player is aware of that ahead of their decision.

It is quite telling that we are having visits and not necessarily tying them to big hockey or basketball weekends.  If we can get kids to see our facilities and meet with the staff, I think we'll win a lot of recruiting battles.

So far only 4 guys who would contribute next year. 2 of which were expected to leave.

Every year when a couple good UND players enter the portal,  we all often freak out, which is probably normal. But its never really been a huge landslide of important players leaving, even under Bubba. I could be wrong, but I think most if not every year.....in the end we came out as a net positive in the portal, or at least even. I'm sure it will eventually happen where we end up in a worse spot, but thinking more times than not it will be a net positive...especially under Schmidt, and now with all of the nice facilities. 

Some guys over the years will probably jump to FBS, it'll happen. Just dont want really good players to go to another FCS team.

One of the worst parts of the portal, is it doesn't technically open until January 2, so all we basically know are the players leaving.....most players committing probably don't announce right away. So it's a one way street at the moment.

Is it harder to support a team when players leave in the portal?  What affects how you feel about the team most? A large number of players or a few main names entering?

The whole roster limit thing has so much to do with it!!!! Having roster limits doesn't help.
