If Dane is hired, how is that crapping the bed? Look, we all want what's best for UND but none of us are truly "in the know" of what goes on and how to lead a program. Could the longtime assistant finally get his chance to show the world what he can do as a head coach or does an outside coach come in and totally fumble the ball and drags the program down?

If Jackson can bring some assistants on board it might be the change we need.

I don’t think I need to re-hash what has been discussed over and over again. But simply put, more of the same. Time to try something different.   Jacks may be a different person but my gosh he has been here for 19 years. He has been apart of the success and the failures.

Addition by subtraction.

No copyright on that statement? ;)

There's also no guarantee players stay. There are a couple that will absolutely jump in the portal because Dane is the guy.  He's not universally loved in the locker room.

Not saying the players should have a huge say…but the question would be will more key players stay or bolt should Dane get the nod?

Honestly, I don't think it is more of the same with Dane. Berry probably shouldn't have brought in Simpson and he probably should have let Karl go a few years ago but his loyalty to them might have backfired. If Dane is the guy, he could totally revamp his staff the way he sees fit.
Either way, whoever they bring on as the next HC, the fanbase will be split 50/50 on if they like that person (and their staff).

Disagree. Who knows how it will work out and Jackson could end up being the right call, but if the two options were Jackson or anybody else. I'm guessing the fan base would prefer anybody else.

Dane Jackson would be proof if you hang out in the right circles long enough, there's a good chance your number will likely be called eventually.

Waiting 20 years is a long time.

I'm not sure that's a pro or a con.

A Dane hire won't move the needle with any season ticket holders that I know. Zero juice.

I am not saying I want Jackson but did Hakstol move the needle 20 years ago?

So only question is which UND family member will be coaching UND hockey next year?

I liked Rube - sadly his record was a challenge for the fans during his years.

Was Hak on staff 19 years before he was hired?

Those are our only two options?  How about the new guy comes in and pumps some life into the program?

Especially, if the new guy has the ability and passion to reach new heights for NIL, which reportedly Raboin would be good at.  Jackson will be more of the same old school hockey and thinking, and no doubt will sign a lifetime contract for UND to play Bemidji State.  Would love to know how he felt about Montgomery playing in place of Croal, Komzak and Littler.  Being the leader of the penalty kill, I would think he should have some pull to get Croal in the lineup, which makes me think he was good with Montgomery.  Who recruited Monty to begin with, and how did we get the wrong one.

I wouldn't be so sure. Wife is a UND grad. I think both sets of grandparents are in Detroit Lakes area. Sometimes that's a big deal with young kids.

Cross that bridge when we get to it.
