Popular Post The Sicatoka Posted December 12 Popular Post Posted December 12 My interpretation of Schmidt's use of "internally" is in reference to the UND HR process, and not where the candidates are coming from. "There's some university procedures and protocols we have to go through," Schmidt said Wednesday morning. "We're doing interviews on key positions (Wednesday) and (Thursday). Internally, we'll probably have eight of our 10 guys accepting positions in the next five or six days ... Through the HR hoops "internally". 5 Quote

shep Posted December 12 Posted December 12 May be a stupid question but it wouldn't be my first: What does the recruiting coordinator do? He scopes out the Portal? Connects with coaches in the radius described by the HC? Contacts the kids they like? All the above? I assume the HC and other coaches are very much involved in all of this and that the kid is coming to play for the HC and the relevant coordinator. So how much is recruiting on the Recruiting Coordinator? Quote
gfhockey Posted December 12 Posted December 12 We should be the first FCS team to have a general manager 1 Quote

So how much is recruiting on the Recruiting Coordinator? It’s usually an administrative position that does little to no actual recruiting. A lot of times it’s an entry level position for guys with coaching aspirations. Quote

So how much is recruiting on the Recruiting Coordinator? There are a ton of complexities now with recruiting, as you can consider high school student-athletes, JUCO, and portal transfers. A lot goes into who to offer, when to offer, how to offer, and how to coordinate and execute the official visits in an efficient manner. The programs that do this the best have a leg up in recruiting. One of the ways to do it the best is to have a dedicated recruiting coordinator, not just a position coach that spends part-time coaching current players and part-time organizing recruiting. Recruiting is the lifeblood of your program, so emphasizing all avenues for recruiting excellence is incredibly important. 1 Quote
sioux24/7 Posted December 12 Posted December 12 Do we have a prediction on what the staff will look like next year? I know I’ve heard Malcolm Agnew and Jordan Gigli just thrown around due to their time here that overlapped with Scmidt’s. Just trying to figure out who his guys are. Always like to think that these guys when they become head coaches have their staffs in mind. I just think about DeBoer and how he brought a lot of his staff with him each stop. Quote

I looked up the U of MN staff to see what they have for recruiting coordinators. I admit I was surprised by the number of people assigned to recruiting. There are 9 here plus a few others that may fall under the same umbrella. Director of Player Personnel - in his bio it calls him the recruiting coordinator. Director of Recruiting / Minnesota High School Liaison Director of Recruiting Operation Director of Recruiting Management Director of On-Campus Recruiting Assistant Director of Player Personnel Assistant Director of On-Campus Recruiting Assistant for Recruiting and Administration Coordinator of Recruiting Operations Quote

RhettRingers Posted December 12 Posted December 12 My source told me that it will be an overhaul with the coaching staff. If I had to guess I think he will retain at least one from both sides of the ball. I think Dosch will be back in some sort of roll, just based on his history with Schmidty. 2 Quote

I've heard the same from a couple different people as well. I can't speculate who will be staying. 2 Quote
Popular Post SiouxFan100 Posted December 12 Popular Post Posted December 12 Like everyone else here - feel for the existing staff and families - part of the ugliness of coaching - thanks for getting us through the transition - good luck 3 2 Quote
The Sicatoka Posted December 12 Posted December 12 My guess from most to least likely to be retained: OC, OL, RB, Dosch, STC, (other), DC. 1 Quote
Big Green Posted December 12 Posted December 12 One interesting thing from his interview with the 360 guys is he references when they got to Washington they were told they would need to release a large number of the players as they were not good enough. He said he didn't buy that and kept most around and changed the scheme. I guessing your not going to see a bunch of players told to enter the portal. 3 Quote

SiouxFan100 Posted December 12 Posted December 12 I would guess that there are zero folks here that think we would be in a better place right now if bubba stayed. It really is stunning to me how much I feel that things can be turned around. 2 Quote
