cberkas Posted yesterday at 01:34 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:34 AM Listened to Brad podcast, and he called this a "bye series." So UND learned a lesson against Canisius and not play this game on the road and just pay them to come to the REA.

brianvf Posted yesterday at 06:22 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 06:22 AM https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/8-things-to-know-about-robert-morris-ahead-of-this-weekends-series-with-und Quote Schooley, Robert Morris' only men's hockey coach in program history, brought the Colonials to Ralph Engelstad Arena in January 2011 to face one of UND's best teams of the last two decades. That UND team had Matt Frattin, Evan Trupp and Brad Malone on the top line. It had NHL star Brock Nelson and Stanley Cup champion Carter Rowney on the fourth line. UND won the series opener 8-0. "I remember they ran out of fireworks," Schooley said. "It was right when they instituted video replay. They'd score a goal, light off the fireworks. Then, on like four or five of them, they went in to review them. Then, after they confirmed the goal, they lit off the fireworks again. Every time, we were getting double fireworked." "I don't think they had any left for Saturday." There weren't many needed Saturday. The series finale was scoreless with five minutes to go in the third period, when Frattin curled out of the left circle and sniped one on Robert Morris goalie Eric Levine for an unassisted goal. So I assume he was saying it was a "buy" series then, because a bye series would suggest he thinks it will be easy, and that doesn't sound like something Schlossman would think, especially since they swept Miami and UND has found ways to lose to them on occasion.

Meaning UND isn’t making the return trip to RMU and is paying them $60,000 in travel expenses to come here to play.
Scratch
I think Schloss often makes good points in response to criticisms of the program, but then on the podcast he said Strinden was "the best player on the ice" on Saturday. Difficult to believe anyone could think that after watching Buium effortlessly cycle the o zone all night.

We have been unimpressive defensively lately (obviously injuries are killing us there) so I have a feeling we will see 2 high-scoring games with night one being like 4-3 OT in our favor. Then 5-3 the next night. Take the over. Feeling a sweep but it’s going to be ugly.

brianvf
Lot of good info on injured players in this article, as well as how dominant Wilkie was against RMU last season: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/carter-wilkie-had-a-big-stat-line-against-robert-morris-last-season Quote Wilkie, a junior at RIT last season, played six games against the Colonials. He scored six goals and tallied 12 points. Wilkie finished the season with 16 goals and 41 points, meaning 37.5 percent of his goals and 29.3 percent of his points last season came against Robert Morris. Quote Wilkie has been a consistent two-way player for UND but his offense has dried up recently. He enters this weekend on a six-game point drought and a nine-game goal drought. His line with Mac Swanson and Ben Strinden had strong analytics last weekend against the University of Denver. Injury updates: Quote Defenseman Tanner Komzak is expected to be available this weekend. Komzak was cleared for practice Thursday last week. He dressed for Saturday's series finale but didn't play any shifts. Berry said freshman defenseman Andrew Strathmann, who was injured Nov. 1 at Cornell, is "way ahead of expected." Strathmann has returned to practice. "When he got diagnosed coming out of Cornell, it looked like it was maybe longterm with a surgery included," Berry said. "The surgery didn't take place. He's really responded from therapy. He's in some heavy contact drills, some we're keeping him out of." Strathmann won't play against Robert Morris, but he could play before Christmas break. Forward Cody Croal practiced for the first time Thursday. He did not take contact. Defenseman Bennett Zmolek still is not practicing. UND expects to know more on his timeline next week. He's currently listed as "out indefinitely." Goalie Kaleb Johnson also is "out indefinitely." Center Cameron Berg also will miss this weekend's series. The Fighting Hawks have yet to win this season without Berg in the lineup (5-2 with him, 0-4 without him). Good news on Strathmann, Komzak, and Croal. Time to break that stat with Berg out of the lineup.
