Jones shouldn't be lumped in with the rest mentioned. He carried the team the two years he was here and deserved a better tenure.

I'm guessing he thinks the Ref's should be up there answering questions as they cost MN the Game.

I wonder if there is a rule in place for how long a goalie gets to fix equipment issues?  Seems like there should be a stated time limit.

Last weekend the W. Michigan goaltender was allowed to change a skate blade.  

However if I'm him I'm not bringing up the fact I don't trust my back-up goalie to come in.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the rule is new this year that a goalie only has X amount of time to fix an equipment issue on an icing - so teams do not stall to "fix" equipment with tired players on the ice who are not allowed to change. Teams can switch goalies or use their timeout.

If it isn't a rule, it will be brought up in the next rules session.  About time that Minnesota has to be at the forefront of some rule change brought about because of some grey area resulting in a loss in the National Tournament.

I had not noticed until today, but the Denver-Providence game is the one on ESPN+.  The rest are on ESPN2 or ESPNU.  I think this may be the best game of the day, so pretty disappointing.  Interesting until I saw who the other teams were at that time.  ESPN headquartered in Connecticut, probably locked them in to ESPNU.

Motzko knows the rules on equipment failures how to handle it, stop with the "forced" crap. He could have used his timeout, but he gambled and it didn't work out.
Every fan base uses the same kind of excuse when their team blows a lead (our fans have done it) but the fact remains, they were up 2 goals and their piss poor play allowed UMASS to come back. There was no reason for the Gophers to lift their foot off the gas at all, they had that game won but choice to play prevent. 
The non tripping call was not the reason they lost in the first place. Honestly, it also looked like the lost more of an edge than getting tripped.

It’s a rule, it’s a new one that took effect this year apparently. I always thought this was a rule when a goalie has an equipment issue that can’t be fixed in a few seconds.

A skate blade is quick and easy to replace. Just have to pop it in, he had to take a pad off and replace his laces.

Doesn't change the outcome, but my opinion is it was a penalty.  If you watch his stick you can see the moment that it hits his leg and rattles or whatever word you want to use for it.  Just one guy's opinion obviously.    

Happy we are talking about the gophers losing during the NCAA tournament!  (Wish our team was there.....)

I have no problem with his call on the play, but I would love to know if he has backtracked since.  If he is still sticking to the outrage after watching the replays, then he probably would have complained about the outcome regardless of that play.

I did not see it last night but after the chatter I expected it to be far more egregious. Penalty early in the game…100%. I can see why in overtime it was let go being it was center ice, not an odd man situation, and he went down pretty easily. If you go back, I bet five or six similar no-calls were made in the third and early overtime.  I personally wish they would consistently call the game from start to finish but once you start to look the other way then it has to continue. The only time you will see a penalty is on a breakaway or a loose puck in the slot.

Did he ever apologize for calling a Minnesota kid a "Hose Head"?  I'm guessing not.  And at a place like the U of M people have lost their jobs for less hurtful things said publicly....

He was hardly touched. This is common obstruction in the game. The guy had 1 hand on the stick and there was hardly any force to it. Honestly looks like a dive as soon as the gopher player feels the contact on his shin guard. The player acts like he was shot. The stick never hits his skate.

I don't know?  I think that shoulda been called especially causing a change of possession.  Not intentionally advocating for the Gophers though as I love to watch them lose.  That weak side assignment reminds me of certain team the past few seasons.
