This has to mean we pick up another portal forward right? And Littler comes in as well? We need 2 more forwards to get to 15. Sure seems strange it's been so quiet which has the feeling our portal forward will be just a depth guy so maybe waiting it out for a guy that doesn't have really have another option but to be a depth forward. AlphaMikeFoxtrot
I'd like to see some former Force as portal targets, they've lived in the area already and obviously have the Eades et al connection.

brianvf
Doesn't sound like we'll be moving to home site regionals anytime soon. Surprise, surprise, but the western leagues were pushing for the change...but the eastern leagues did not support it. Drinking the Wodon kool-aid. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/home-regional-idea-does-not-gain-traction-at-naples-meetings Quote The idea of home regionals was met with approval from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference and the Big Ten — two Western-based leagues. It was met with disapproval from the other four leagues — the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, Hockey East, the ECAC and Atlantic Hockey America. SuhakiYeahYeah
The east supports a system that benefits them instead of something for the greater good of college hockey. Shocking. Start putting 3 of the 4 regionals in central or mountain time and watch how quickly they change their tune.

tnt
I think the smaller schools that keep embracing this because they don’t think they’ll host are not doing what is in the interest of college hockey as a whole, and even though I think the transfer portal is not in the best interest either, I hope the schools that keep supporting the empty regionals get what they deserve and get raided in the portal.
Wilbur
Baseball regionals/super regionals are on campus. Volleyball, FCS Football, Lacrosse, soccer, and even the flipping FBS with the new system is on campus the first round. Nothing will happen until BC plays BU in Loveland on a Sunday, but that won't happen because there are always three regionals within a bus ride of their campus. 1

Benny Baker
NCAA at Engelstad would be awesome. However, the way things have been set up the last decade have been relatively favorable to UND: So long as they make it, they’re guaranteed to play up to two games in Fargo every other season. I don’t foresee UND being consistently ranked high enough year after year to have the opportunity for that many regional games in Grand Forks. I was looking into the FBS CFP and the home team can play the game anywhere. So, Georgia can play in Atlanta if they want too. I do see the CFP being in NFL stadiums sooner than later with the Rose Bowl being the only one not being an NFL stadium.

Northwood got out bid. Valley City bid to put the (natural) ice back into the ND Winter Show rodeo arena. Who could turn down 5000 aluminum bench seats (no backs) in a 15 degree F environment! Did I mention the trailer houses they pull in to the cattle staging area to be used as locker rooms (no water, no lavatory)? That's a page out of the Nichols State Football playoff lockers playbook that won the NCAA over! @sioux rube was part of the site scouting team and can verify.
brianvf
I'm thinking this is our final roster. With Klee already announced as captain of his jr team for next season, I'd guess that Littler comes in as well as fresh recruit Andrew. Forward (15): GR - Jamernik SR - Berg, Kunz, Schmaltz, Wilkie JR - McLaughlin, James, Strinden, Montgomery SO - Perron FR - Swanson, Boisvert, Croal, Littler, Andrew Defense (8): JR - Zmolek SO - Livanavage, Wiebe, Komzak, MacDonald FR - Jubenvill, Strathmann, Emery Goalie (3): SR - Semptimphelter JR - Johnson SO - Hedquist

hockeytherapy13
Based on the article in the Athletic (Goon posted in the Commits page) that talks about Boisvert needing work on his faceoffs, I’m guessing (and really hoping) we see him at 3rd line center with a decent finisher. If these lines are built correctly this team could be rough to play against. But if we see Schmaltz in a scoring role and other guys get buried that have a higher ceiling and should be getting developed, then it could be unnecessarily frustrating. brianvf
UND / UMN series back on starting in 25/26: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-minnesota-sign-four-year-deal-for-future-mens-hockey-games Quote UND and Minnesota have signed a four-year agreement for future rivalry games beginning in 2025-26. The teams will play in Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks in 2025-26 to start the deal. They'll play in Minnesota's 3M Arena at Mariucci in 2026-27. They'll return to Grand Forks for a series in 2027-28. The contract closes with a two-game set in Minneapolis in 2028-29. This agreement will begin after a one-year hiatus for the rivalry. UND and Minnesota won't play in the regular season in 2024-25.
