Kevin G Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Sloppy passing. Too much individual effort when attempting zone entry. No forecheck. Boo. Quote

cowboys5xsbs Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 We have too much talent to look that bad and get shutout. There is no excuse for that. Quote
bcblues Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 This is a huge rivalry for us fans (especially those of use that have been fans for years). But for these young guys, it is just another game, despite the lip service they gave before the game. I wish there was a way to somehow get these young players to understand the importance of the cross conference rivalries. Maybe Motz has figured this out? They certainly took the home rink advantage out of the picture. 1 Quote
SiouxScore Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 When you play one solid period against a good team this is the result you get. Seemed like we were completely on our heels the 2nd and 3rd and after hearing Jackson's comments after the 1st something like "we saw how quick they can counter attack and really gotta be aware/defend that". It was like we were so scared to make a mistake that they would counter that our attack level really went down. This is a team that has to play on their toes and be the attackers, not sit in the neutral zone and look to counter off a turnover. There is too much offensive talent for what we saw tonight. Our guys settled to just play on the outside instead of trying to play through a body and get to the tough areas. Gaber might've been our worst forward. Need way more from an experienced leader. Persson was pretty solid. Our PP has looked awful in all 3 games. Too many guys that looked like they didn't want the puck, way too man giveaways and just sloppy lackadaisical play. Minnesota played harder tonight and was the better team and got the result they deserved. 1 1 Quote
ChrisUND1 Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Surprised how flat they looked for most of game. Quote
scpa0305 Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 In a nutshell, their goalie played really well; our dcore is very light; our PP1 has to have Perron on it; Gaber/Blake need to trust their teammates, they play like squirts. 3 Quote
Frozen4sioux Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Since the legislature is heading back into session can we just take the section about having a crappy Power Play OUT of the century code. Quote
rochsioux Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 I know it’s very early but this game stunk. We looked slow and unable to pass the puck and move our feet. Embarrassing. I don’t think there was even one difficult save that Close had to make. Need to win tomorrow so we’re not digging ourselves a hole. Failure to make the NC$$ tourney this year should mark the end of the Brad Berry era. Tomorrow should tell us quite a bit about this team. Quote

A lot of times when you play rivalry games and NCAA tournament games you need to either have hard skill perform or have your grinders play a big part by going to the net. This is my concern with this team when the power play isn’t clicking, they need some hard work goals to turn the tide. Didn’t get to the net very well, and that includes the guys that have to play that way. I suspect Ness will be in the lineup tomorrow to try add some of that. Let’s see if they can turn it around tomorrow and play with more of an edge. 2 Quote

108498 Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 When was the last time UND made a regional final or a frozen four? UND has been bad for a long time. 1 Quote
nodakgirl93 Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 This game ended very similar to the last friday night the gophers played at the Ralph. They got the empty netter to make it 4-1 and then scored again.... saturday night und was the better team and won. Quote

tnt Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Guys like McLaughlin need to fight through a few checks if they aspire to get to the next level. Sometimes when they got rubbed out they let up and allowed the gophers any easy zone exit. Not much cycling this game. 1 Quote

Like the gophers don’t have a nice weight room and facilities. Usually when you get first round draft picks they have speed and/or strength to their game and a competitive edge. Don’t think UND was totally outclassed, just need some extra effort and play a little more clean. We all said UND would need to come together, so losing to the #1 team in a game where we weren’t crisp is hardly shocking. Hopefully a better effort tomorrow. 2 Quote
