It’s just so sad that the basketball program means that little to him. If Sather had 3 heck even 2 more years on his deal, I could understand the hesitancy to buy him out but he has 1 freaking year left.

I would think that any buyout of sather would have to be approved by Chaves boss

Sather should be fired immediately. They should hire a timeout guru and then they won’t lose another game the rest of the season.

 

They should also hire a subbing coordinator and a free throw expert. 
If there’s anything left in the budget they should hire a confidence advisor to make sure every player is confident.

You’re right. A significant part (probably majority) of collegiate athletics success (or failure) is on recruiting, and the coaches definitely are the ones who do the recruiting.

How about we just hire a good coach that knows what he is doing and knows how to recruit.  We eliminate all the rest of those hires.

Let’s see if I get this right 

1. Just some bad luck. Never has anything to do with coaching

2. Little known fact, UND is the only program in the NCAA that is not allowed to recruit other d1 players from the portal. We are only allowed to lose players. Not Sathers fault for that. 
3. It’s 100% the players fault. Sather is one of the best X’s and O’s coaches in the conference. I have no evidence to back this up other than just believe me, you’re an idiot if you disagree 

4. You guys expect way too much out of a coach in his 4th year in a program. You shouldn’t be favored to win a conference game until year 7. You shouldn’t be expected to win multiple games in a row till at least year 12. Just be patient. There’s no other teams in the conference that have had short turn around times

5. Grand Forks is impossible to recruit to. When kids have options like Brookings, SD and Macomb, Illinois it’s impossible to recruit against. Not Sathers fault 

Let me know if I missed any other reasons why we should continue this dumpster fire

Wasn't sure if many people were having the same thoughts as me but looks like most do. Sather needs to go. I have watched most of the games this year and Sather has lost most of them himself. The starters he puts on the floor are questionable? His rotations/subs are just so screwed up I have no idea what he is thinking. Brady Danielson and Reid Grant should not see the floor at all in D1 basketball and are getting huge and good minutes. How are they both getting more or just as many minutes at Sueker and Norman??? Speaking of Sueker, what the heck happened to him? Played maybe a couple minutes last night.

Remember they recruited Shockey also who is worse than Grant. I don't get it.  Look at the players that SDSU, ORU, NDSU have.  How can you possibly offer a scholarship to some of the kids we have?  They don't stand a chance of competing successfully.

I never thought that from the beginning.  But our top 3 candidates that they announced none of them were impressive.  I especially didnt like hiring a middle aged guy from a division 2 school that historically always is on top.
