Why even bother pulling the goalie there.
The team isn't going to score 2 goals to tie it in only a couple of minutes.  They may give up a couple goals in a couple minutes, but they sure as heck aren't gonna tie it back up.

My thoughts exactly. The list could go a lot longer than the three listed. Development of players who were big contributors last year are put on back burner for the “we’ll make a run this year with  19 and 10”……

Disagree.  It's hockey, and weird things happen all the time.  Who cares if you lose by more?
