They deserve the benefit of the doubt with their pre season ranking, but despite last years record, they didn't look all that great... there were cracks that appeared, and now they have to reload their roster. Now that they don't have an NFL QB or Luepke to rely on, they aren't any more special than UNI, imo. As we know and most have shared "It all comes down to the O line and D line". Our line coach seems to be the real deal and our recruiting in that area has been impressive. If we can match up with their lines we can beat them. 1 Quote
Sioux94 Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 I was going to post this in the Non-UND thread but I see it got mentioned in this one so I'll post it for those who haven't seen it. Quote

I thought Matt had to be out of the room when they were discussing any Valley team, not just NDSU. So not sure how much say he had in it. Quote
Popular Post SIOUXFAN97 Posted July 24, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 24, 2023 For all home games next year could the marketing department choose people with UND or North Dakota ties to do "live" coin tosses? Have Jimmy K on the big screens welcoming fans and greeting both teams and coaches and then he "flips" a coin and it magically falls from the rafters of the Alerus onto the turf? Josh Duhamel for Drake Wiz Khalifa for NAU Chris Kuper for WIU Jimmy K for NDAC Phil Jackson for ISUb Virgil Hill for ISUr 5 Quote

Nodak78 Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Roster has 23 seniors, 5th yr, graduate. Some of the senior may be back next year. We are still a young team. Experienced but Young. Quote

Sioux94 Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Will Caden Dennis have a break out year, he was supposed to have really good speed. Now that he has been in the program for a while will we see some big plays from him? Or will it be Eliodor making a splash with big plays for us this year on offense? Hopefully more big plays from Red this year as well. Sure would be nice to see a couple deep ball connections with our WR's with a couple feet of separation. Quote

My thought is that Tommy needs to improve his accuracy over 30 yards. The WRs are open. He just misses them. 1 Quote

I've been a big Tommy fan, but I agree. WR has improved enough that now it's his turn to up his game to the next level. Time to put an end to all this Theo Day talk! Quote

A few players on that list really shouldn’t be at the top of the depth chart. Hope the guys beneath them grab the top spot. 1 Quote

AJS Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 This team does have a lot of “knowns”, still some questions, but a higher level of comfort than most years. With that in mind, this season to me boils down to as always staying healthy in key spots, but also have 3 or 4 guys completely exceed (from a fan standpoint) expectations / take their game to the next level. That could be a guy like Pedigo playing at an All-Conference level. Fort / Buckner solidifying a Safety position and raising that up to a much higher level than last year. One of the transfers being a true starter level talent on the D-Line. A RS Freshman jumping up the depth chart. I think they are that close to taking that next step. 2 Quote

siouxfan512 Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Tommy is the guy BUT as other have stated, I really hope he has spent the summer working on that long ball. He seems to add a new element to his game every year. Last year we finally saw him run when the opportunities were there. This year he needs to continue to build on that AND hit some deep balls, some of that is accuracy and some of that is trusting your receivers to make plays. Defense could be interesting this year. Hope some guys are ready to step up. I thought I read something before about them simplifying the defense which could be a huge help. The question beyond that; is the talent there and do we have enough guys that can make plays? My biggest hope as we head into camp .... PLEASE STAY HEALTHY!!! The Lotysz news really bums me out, but fortunately. O-Line has been built into a team strength in a relatively short period of time. Quote

I haven't seen Greg Lotysz around as much in the past...is he still a full time GF'er? Does he "help" out coaching with Bubba? One of the nicest guys you could ever meet....sucks about Peyton and his injury bc he had a mean streak on that o-line! 1 Quote
