Like I said, survived a trap game. That was vintage SU: Getting the ball with 7-8 minutes to go and letting the OLine and star runner do their thing and run the clock out. I think that's the second time that we've done that this season. Very encouraging. 5 Quote
Popular Post wheelsup Posted October 30, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2022 A couple of thoughts.. probably all beaten to death. The attendance was a bad as I have seen it outside of covid. Obviously they didnt intend to schedule this as the same time as a destination hockey game but wow.. If there were actually 6500 fans in attendance I would be surprised. hopefully that doesnt happen again. Very few students, I assumed they might show up as they probably werent all in Vegas but very few showed up. Easiest halftime walk around the concourse that I have had. The defense is hard to watch. I know we pick on the d-backs a bit.. but the complete lack of pressure on the QB cant help them. I think our lack of pressure up front is worse than the defensive coverage. KK had a great interception. I am really surprised at our inability to get any pressure up front. Their QB can take a nap back there most plays. ST's.. when did the kickoff coverage fall apart like this. Can we really not kick it through the end zone on kickoffs?? Punt coverage was solid.. I was happy to see Red returning kicks instead of CJ. Offense is what is holding the team together right now... the Offense is fun to watch except for the times when Danny seems to lose his mind and get inexplicably cute. Our offense is good.. The o-line is continuing to improve.. hoose is awesome.. People badmouth our WR's.. i think they are super fun to watch. Bo, Maag and the young guys... At some point i hope Danny takes the obvious.. maybe hand the ball to hoose.. maybe bring in Quincy in short yardage.. its great. I thought the officiating was terrible.. The complete miss on pass interference and then overturning that sack/fumble.. really some terrible officiating. Maybe it will look different when I rewatch the game.. but in the alerus the officiating looked terrible. I liked the 4Q hype video.. nicely done.. give us more of that.. The alerus also seems like its figuring out the replays.. We are finally getting some at the right times. The only nice thing about the lack of fans was that I could get from my seat to the beer stand and back without missing a play. Overall.. another win.. Ill take it! Need to keep it rolling. 2 3 Quote
Siouxperman8 Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 In Vegas. Watched first half poolside on laptop but had to go back to room in 2nd half so could hear it. Wild game. Sack City will be back on 11/12 2 Quote

I’ve also felt this way this year, it’s that UND has a good offense and a bad defense. @UND-FB-FAN calling you out, because of your most recent post. The final score is 34-31. The defense put the offense in scoring position. ST’s put the defense in awful position all day. Was the defense today really that bad? Offense really that good? Defense was unable to get off blocks or consistently pressure today. They’ve been the weak spot all season. They have allowed long TD drives and failed to consistently produce takeaways. They have allowed nearly 30 points - sometimes more - in basically every game. That puts a lot of pressure on the offense, especially when the offense turns it over a couple times. I’m sorry, but the defense this year has been awful. New players, new coaches, new schemes - probably all of the above - is needed. 3 1 Quote

What do you call that? A good offense that knew they needed to keep their !@#!$ defense off the field. Cudos to Freund, Schuster, Hoosman, and the offensive line for finishing out the game. Like I said in my previous post, was fun to see UND grind out 7+ minutes of clock to earn the win. Now, you can call it a trap game to justify the close nail-bitting nature of it, but I’ll just say that UND did what I thought they would and could do: keep it close and see how it goes. Glad UND won, but there were opportunities throughout the game to put it away but they kept ACU in it throughout. Philosophy, style, and demeanor of Bubba’s teams in the past and present predicted that one. Ultimately. glad UND won. On to Indiana State. Fight to go 8-3 via a win @ NDSU. 1 Quote

SWSiouxMN Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Congrats UND, you have avoided your first trap. Now prepare for the next one: Road trip to Terre Haute. Plus you got a little help to make your wins against YSU and UNI look a little better. Quote

Siouxperfan7 Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 We need 3 wins in the last 4 weeks to make the playoffs. We got one today. Was it pretty at all times no. It this team grounded out a win against a 5-2 team. That last drive to seal the win was an 8 minute drive to kneel out the clock. That is what good teams do. Ugly wins still count the same as pretty wins. Just keep winning. #7WinsWeAreIn 3 Quote
UND-FB-FAN Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 UND plays a 1-7 team on the road and then against a 2-6 team at home before the big one in Fargo. Definitely got a shot to make some noise here, but UND needs to keep their composure and execute. Concerning thing is, despite the 1-7 and 2-6 records of Indiana State and South Dakota, respectively, we all know what Bubba led teams have done in the past. It haunts me. Let’s see if 2022 is any different. Go Hawks! 3 Quote
farce poobah Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 With any luck ACU will keep winning games down south. They have a bunch of skilled and talented athletes. Quote

Mama Sue Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 IMHO, ST can make or break some games….scoring a TD no one expected, on side kicks, good or poor field position. Everyone contributes not just Ol snd DL. When STs perform like that everyone is excited! At least I am. It is like the frosting on the cake. 2 Quote
Popular Post Sioux>Bison Posted October 30, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2022 Not many people mentioned Ziebarth’s role in that last drive. We trusted him with the ball when it mattered says a lot about him . We needed to pound the ball and he had fresh legs. He gave hoos some rest for the final set of downs. Good to have three great backs that we can rely on! 1 5 Quote
