JMU adjusted defense because game was over. 6-6 for 75 yards on last drive. Pre final drive 10-20 138 yards and 2 ints(only 1 was his fault). Less than 7 yards per attempt. And how much of that was on the 2nd qtr drive where Danny emptied the playbook? 2-2 for 48 yards on gadget plays. 8-18 with 1 pick for 90 yards previous to last drive and without gadget plays. Quote

It seems that you are the type that will always think the backup is the answer. Every fan base has them. If we could stop the damn run this game would be entirely different and that is where the focus needs to be if we want to be a championship team. Edit: I am bummed I had to waste my 5,000th post on this. 5 Quote

Defense was on field for almost 37 minutes. We stopped the run much better early than late. Needed a couple 8-10 play drives that take 7-8 minutes. other than first qtr of MSU it was largely the same story the last 3 games. I’ll shut up now. We are so damn close. Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted May 3, 2021 Author Posted May 3, 2021 I would guess we all wish we had better players all over I would guess with a high probability that we would win more with better players at all positions Quote

UND1983 Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 Let's remember that Vaughn would need to actually find those open receivers that Schuster is consistently finding. Processing a play isn't as simple as it seems. 4 Quote
Popular Post siouxfan512 Posted May 3, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 3, 2021 All of the trash talking about Tommy is a bit surprising considering the overachievement of this team over a strange season. New conference, new QB, new RB, some new receivers. Tommy has beat Sam Houston, Southern Illinois, South Dakota State, Western Illinois and Missouri State. That’s pretty impressive for a young kid who is still developing. Now I have been vocal about getting Quincy some reps, but not because I think he should jump up the depth chart. I just think you want your second guy ready to go (and maybe he won’t miss snaps in a big game). I think Tommy has proven he is the guy, and I only expect him to get better. He is clearly a smart QB and doesn’t turn the ball over much (1st turnover was not on Tommy, the other one was a bad decision and should have been 6pts the other way). Tommy may not be a huge downfield passer, but he has shown that he can do it when needed. If we want to see more downfield shots, we need some burners he can beat the secondary (as @geauxsioux has previously mentioned). Now he does need to make some better decision on when to pull the ball down and run, which he has shown he can do effectively at times. For those who think Tommy can’t be the guy, we could certainly get a bigger, stronger, faster guy; but then we might be having the same conversation complaining about the poor decision making. Tommy still has a ton of time to clean up other areas of the game, but at this point he isn’t typically going to lose one for you. Put some extra pieces around Tommy and he will thrive. 5 Quote

It was also one hell of a play call and the receiver was so wide open most of us on this board could have made that throw. I want to see him pass the ball in drop back or roll out because that will let us know how accurate he is or isn't. He hasn't had that chance so we don't really know what we have in him yet. 3 Quote

The Sicatoka Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 UND's touchdown drives were 75, 90, and 91 yards. How many teams had a 90 yard TD drive all season, much less against that defense. 1 Quote

Needed something from our defense and/or special teams to really have a chance and we didn't get that, unfortunately. But I'm still in awe with (pretty much) everything that went down in the 2020-21 spring season. I think this team is going to be on an outright mission come September. Quote

Are we the only fan base that poo poos our highlights (it's not always luck, you know)? Any other team uses gadget plays on us (and they do all the time) or creeps up on us in garbage time and all of a sudden they're celebrated for their creativity, skill and prowess. If we do it, according to some in our fan base, we were lucky or any myriad excuses that usually follow. I am not for sugar coating things but damn, sometimes we need some perspective. 15 Quote
