I’m curious why the success of Chloroquine isn’t being more broadly shared...especially by the media

Yea, that’s a real mystery, isn’t it?  I mean, why wouldn’t they want to report something positive in this crisis?

I've been trying to figure out how to successfully imbed a video into this chat from my phone.

Trump at the press conference saying "Chloroquine.  Some people would add to it hydroxy.  Hydroxychloroquine.  It is a common malaria drug.  It's also a drug used for strong arthritis."

I'll take mine with the hydroxy, please.  And also, "Strong arthritis" lol

The media is sharing a chloroquine story because Trump said it today.

But of course it wasn't about the positives. It was about how he "lied" (FDA approved).

I often wonder if Trump throws little "quirks" into his speeches just to get people to talk about it.

There is an interesting video on YouTube from about 4-5 years ago with Bill Gates pretty much predicting that this would happen. And how it could have relatively easily been avoided.

Given H1N1 had "just happened" and all the other pandemics, that isn't exactly groundbreaking stuff.

But he talked about it in the context of "war".

He knows all these countries really are trying to develop viruses as weapons.

He was forewarning how to fight a "new type of war."

If one person has Coronavirus at an Amazon warehouse (very likely) this will pass to a large portion of the country even with social distancing.

And social distancing and panic at the big box stores means more people will be ordering stuff online.

Employee at Amazon warehouse tests positive for Coronavirus and it reopens 24 hours later.

Let me get this straight. So nonessential businesses can't be open in some states.

But when an employee actually has Coronavirus its completely fine to have that business open?

https://www.vox.com/recode/2020/3/19/21186322/amazon-warehouse-coronavirus-covid-19-worker-tested-positive-delivery-station-queens-new-york

I can't take a dump at a North Dakota rest area but I can go rub elbows right now in NYC with people who were just rubbing elbows with a highly contagious individual. That make a lot of sense.

At what point is this all just grandstanding.

I started feeling sick on Monday with what I perceived to be influenza and have been at home since then.  Must have had 20 friends and co-workers suggest that I immediately go get tested for COVID-19.  Shaking my head...

OK so I'm going to preface this with I rarely get sick.  Like haven't taken a sick day in years (yes I'm dumb bc I don't get anything for not using them).

Is it normal to have the flu for 4 days?  Doesn't that make you question things??? I know my brother and his family all had it for like 5 days this winter and he was saying how he's never been that sick for that long.

Full lockdown in CA...my family has been essentially quarantined for a week and a half, so not a ton changes, but it’s pretty surreal.

I’m getting sick of the doom porn out there.  I don’t think anyone doubts the seriousness of this, but let’s talk about wins.   Gavin saying 22million Californians are going to get sick just insights fear.

I bought some tonic water...it isn’t a therapeutic dose of quinine, but it can’t hurt...especially with some gin!

And yes, I know that quinine and chloroquine are not the same thing, but again...can’t hurt

I already said I didn't believe I had it, so why give into the panic and waste a test?  My symptoms are very much that of the flu.  After a not-so-great day yesterday, I'm feeling significantly better today, although not nearly 100%.  I'll be fine.

I just assumed, because you missed nearly a week of work, you must have been significantly ill and were refusing to go in for reasons.  I’m an old fart though, I come from an era where you’d need to be almost half-dead to miss 4 straight days in a row.   Nonetheless, its good to hear you’re doing well.

Stay healthy.

I think Trump desperately wants to appear in charge of the situation but lacks the refinement to do so, which sometimes leads to him to overcompensate and misrepresent facts.  As a result the experts in the room are forced to step in and say "whoa, let's back the jeep up a second here".

There's a considerable difference between saying “We're making progress based on the scientific info that's coming out" as opposed to “We’re super close to finding a cure and it will be available shortly”, or "It's been approved!".

Since chloroquine already is approved, Doctor's can prescribe it off label as Dr's do for many drugs.  Chloroquine has already had extensive safety checks before it was approved.  Same holds for Gilead Science's anti viral drug.

The real flu, influenza can absolutely make a healthy person feel like total garbage for four days. A week or more is not uncommon.

The stomach “flu”? Four days would indeed be long for that. We need to stop calling that illness “flu” because of the people who say, “Nah, I don’t need a flu shot. If I get flu I’ll only be sick for a day or two anyway.”

Newsom orders all 40+M to "stay at home" in CA. He's talking possibly 8 weeks and half will get infected. Real leadership there.

Dow futures down.....again. 7 trillion dollars lost so far. Clearing traders from floor........ that'll help calm the markets. I should have asked Diane Feinstein or Richard Burr for trading tips.

DeBlasio letting out Rikers' convicts with other state doing the same thing. Let's deal with a public health issue by compounding it by decreasing public safety. Brilliant.

If the Plaquenil/Z-Pak combo is the ticket package it in a Pez dispenser, military cargo drop it everywhere and let's get on with our lives.
