Brad says the current frontrunner for 2022 destination game is a Vegas redux at T-Mobile.  I gotta be honest, that doesn't excite me as much as a new location would.  I think they should wait another cycle or two before returning to Vegas, but maybe that's just me

Agree. I was hoping Tampa or PHX but I'll still go back to Vegas.

They could just be in the tournament that’s held there during Christmas. Then have a game somewhere else.

At this point, Vegas will likely be a permanent second or third stop in the rotation (every 4-6 years), for a handful of reasons, with ease of travel, entertainment options being two of them along with a very large donor who resides there.

Late Oct or early Nov. highs still in the 80s golf before the game but fall in grand forks can still be nice then too. Maybe the exhibition game against the us junior team would be a good fit. Still highs in the 60s through Christmas. Or that first series back from winter break.

I think the demand for the Vegas game and ticket sales for Nashville have proven that these destination games need to be held in NHL size arenas.  I also agree that these need to be warm weather locations.  As much fin as it is to visit Philly or Chicago, I think fans would much rather visit warmer climates in late October/early November.  Plenty opportunities to visit those other arenas and cities for Frozen Fours!!  That being said, here are the warm climate cities with an NHL arena that are potential destination "warm climate" locations:

  • San Jose
  • Anaheim, CA
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Glendale, AZ
  • Las Vegas, NV
  • Dallas, TX
  • Nashville, TN
  • Raleigh, NC
  • Tampa, FL
  • Sunrise, FL

Any of the other cities (besides Nashville and Vegas) that people are excited about?!

If UND plays in Philly they better play against Penn State. They could play both games in Glendale if they came to play ASU. All games in Glendale have been afternoon games so far this season.

I honestly don’t care if UND plays Michigan.

LA is the best of a snooze fest of cities there. Too bad the new Warriors arena in SF was designed as exclusively basketball. Vegas and Nashville were the two best choices.

While Westgate isn't anything to write home about in my opinion (having lived a short walk away), the entire entertainment district would play as a great host if we were to play at/in Gila River for a weekend. Plenty of bars (including a Fat Tuesday), 5 hotels within walking distance, Tanger Outlets right across the street, and an ever-improving Desert Diamond Casino a couple blocks north. I would be a big fan of this proposal if it came to be.
