I'm pretty sure the physical tools and skill sets to play hockey versus football are different.

WRs in football, yeah, leap, vertical, sure. Offensive linemen? Do they even measure verticals for them?

Alternatively, how quick can a guy knocked to his knees by a block get on his feet? I'm guessing goalies are faster.

I suspect all these numbers are pro-rated to importance to the sport and position played.

Tell me I have a goalie with a 40" vertical I'm still going to ask and worry more about his glove hand. ;)

Hockey players can't jump. Butts are too big.

My old hockey coach had a big arse, and he would say you can't drive a spike with a tack hammer.

Teachers and coaches would not say such things today.

Which returnees do we see taking a nice jump in scoring next year (hopefully several?) I think Mishmash and Kawaguchi for sure.

Hoff... we need him SO badly.

I struggled with where to put Adams. I think his skill set is Top 6, but I'd rather go with JJ and go with a "Heavy Line" ala 2016 and put Adams on the 4th until he gets consistent.

Would like to see Adams, JJ, and Hoff step it up as well.

If he’s not top 9 with pp minutes he’s not on the ice.

I love the idea of a heavy line - they were a force to be reckoned with in 2016.  This is the type of "role players" we need, not the non-scoring grinders.

A buddy of mine pointed out one thing... we'll get 19 skaters this year. I think we'll roll with an extra dman since we have so many good ones. Could also make Adams a "PP specialist" kind of guy and put Yon, Senden, Keane in there.

Who's not? Adams?? Yeah, like I said in the last post that my buddy suggested... maybe we make Adams a PP specialist.

Yeah Adams.  He needs to play, id put him on line 1-2 to start the year.

Maybe this has been posted already, but just read an article on The Athletic about the World Junior Showcase.  The writer (Pronman, I think?) has Mismash and Jacob Bernard Docker on his projected rosters for the USA and Canada.

Speaking of The Athletic, how long until they poach Schloss? Surprised he hasn't gone yet.

With the recent hire by the Herald,

It had me a little worried, especially reading her job description from the post.

Herald sending multiple people on the road covering the team?????

Considering they took Nate Wells they are paying attention to college hockey, and he's.... not particularly skilled as a writer to put it nicely.

Wells fits into The Athletic's MSP vertical. Schlossman is kind of out on an island. Unless they picked him up for "general" college hockey, but I'm not sure if the demand is there for that. Maybe they could justify him in the MSP market as fans up here tend to be fans of those professional teams.

Trust me when I say the new position has no chance of being the replacement for Schloss, it's entry-level. If anything, I'd guess Miller would jump in if Schloss decided to leave. There's an interview where Schloss said he has a great setup at the GF Herald but there'd be a few opportunities he'd be hard pressed to turn down.  One of those being covering the Wild for the Star Tribune.

I have long thought that Schloss has the greatest job in the world-he gets to watch the team play in every single game, home or away, and the company picks up the tab. I’d kill for that gig.

I figured it would be very entry level.

But the reality is Schloss has established a body of work that vastly outpaces the potential of the Herald.... little Forum..... and their ability to compensate I'd think

UND is unbelievably lucky to have him and quite honestly its priceless in exposure.

I'm not sure the NHL scene would be as open and accessible but he would do quite well I believe. The program would be at a great loss to lose him. And its almost an insult to compare to the capabilties of Wells.... it feels disingenuous to even use the word "capabilities" and "Wells" in the same post.
