Cratter Posted December 7, 2018 Posted December 7, 2018 Can't fire Jones until Brewster gets fired. Jones constantly has his teams closer to the dance than Brewster. Quote

Losing in the second round is better than losing in the first round, Brewster could say how’s your losing coaching record. (Brewster’s record is 101-86 entering this season) Quote

Thats sort of how sports work. Brewster doesn't even have to face any schools top sports team like Jones has to. That gives Brewster like 8 free wins a year. Quote

Brewster played 2 ranked teams last year compared to Jones’ one, so your point of Brewster plays no one is laughable. Since you pointed out free wins, when Jones’ team went to the dance 1 game was against a p5 team and 3 Jones’ wins were non DI teams. Jones has a lot of “free” wins like Brew, but Brew plays more against major conferences like the Big 10 and Big 12 than Jones does. Quote

SiouxVolley Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Brian Jones is ranked #208 out of 353 DI coaches. https://bustingbrackets.com/2018/12/12/ncaa-basketball-ranking-353-d-head-coaches-2018-19/16/ Dave Richman is ranked higher, 162, than Craig Smith, now of Utah St but formerly of USD. Otzelberger of SDSU is ranked # 107. Quote

Some people are just negative, "Fire" threads do nothing for the programs and they certainly have no impact on a coaches tenure along with hurting recruiting. Quote

You know what else does nothing for programs, having a losing season year after year, keeping a lame duck coach for over a decade without much success. Recruits can read a fans negativity in game threads just the same as a “fire” thread. They see results in the box score, they hear word of mouth, they see empty seats in the crowd. Just because someone puts a “fire” thread out there means they aren’t going to sugarcoat how the program is doing. So if we think all the negativity will hurt recruiting then ban all negative posts from all threads. No talk of empty seats in the Ralph, Alerus or Betty. And certainly no talk of firing Jones, Bubba, Brew or Berry. Jim Dahl and all the mods are going to be very busy editing everyone’s negative posts from here on out. 1 Quote

Richman won't be let go, he's out of contract years after this season. They are doing the exact same thing to Richman that UND did with Jones a couple years ago. If he manages to make the tournament in his lame duck year like Jones did, he'll get an extension. Unfortunately for him, it doesn't look realistic, unlike UND in 2016/17. Otherwise it doesn't take a rocket science to figure out that a coach currently in the middle of the last year on his contract might not be with his current team before a coach that has 2 1/2 years left. NDSU has shown they are no more willing to buy out a coach's contract than UND is. Take a look at their VB or WBB programs for proof. In VB they flat out announced their coach wasn't going to be renewed even though she still had a season to coach and they were going to have her coach it out (she voluntarily left for another job) and their WBB program is a disaster and no one cares. UNDsnce82 Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Have any of you taken into consideration that we have ELEVEN new men’s players this year, and in the past two years we have had players leave (GOOD PLAYERS) and go to big name top 10 schools? We aren’t even into the conference play yet and all you negative Nancy’s want coaches fired. Good god let them do their jobs! Let’s wait see how the regular season goes (or at least the first half) before we talk about firing people. Let these kids get to know each other and play together more than a month. FACT: Teams play better together when they can bond as friends(or at least friendly) first. These guys haven’t played together long enough to have that bond. Give them some time! Quote

dmksioux Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 I agree about about the new players. This team is young and needs some time to grow and figure things out. This team has some good parts and lots of potential. They actually play better team ball than most of Jones’ teams do. It will be fun to watch this team grow over this year in next. Really excited about Rabacja. One thing I would like to see is some of the bigs put some weight on. Quote
Kab Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 How many of these players will be here next year it seems those that aren’t playing may want to go somewhere they will play. Quote
