geaux_sioux Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 In case you missed the memo, the only way to win playoff hockey is to get lucky. Even though we are the #1 team in America, we need to rely on "luck" to win it all. Do you ever hear football or basketball fans saying their team needs to get lucky to win in the playoffs? I haven't. Especially not the best team. Are we the best team without Mark though? Quote
MafiaMan Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 During the third period Al Pearson came down to sit behind the UND bench and rally the fans. He wasn't being obnoxious or causing any problems. Security came down and escorted him out. Classy Didn't have a ticket for that area. I hate TC more than anyone but that's pretty standard policy. Quote
johnsowe Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 So if not the Target Center where do you have it? There is more crime in Minneapolis than st paul. Quote
Biddco Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 The skyway entrance was quick and easy. Out of the way for most people but I was happy I entered there. Quote
MafiaMan Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Can they outbid the WCHA for the X? I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of B10/WCHA Super-Tournament held at the X in a few years... Quote
Siouxman Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Last year was so cold in the arena we needed something hot to drink. Coffee was available at most concession stands, but we don't drink coffee. The concession stand right outside of our upper level seats had hot chocolate so that was great on Friday. On Saturday that concession stand was not open. I visited every other concession stand in the building and not a single one had hot chocolate. Following the tournament, the responded to the NCHC request for feedback. I gave them lots of input on what was done right, what was done wrong, what not to do again, and things to add. I mentioned not having hot chocolate available, but coffee is everywhere. So yesterday I did a walk through the Target Center and guess what? Not one concession stand has hot chocolate this year. And none of them have coffee either. I guess that I never thought removing all hot drinks could be a preferred course of action. And the word today is that after bad ice yesterday, TC is "Cold as Ice" today. Dress warm. Quote
bincitysioux Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Regardless of how bad the Target Center is for hosting hockey, the hockey being played in it right now is way worse......... Quote
Oxbow6 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Regardless of how bad the Target Center is for hosting hockey, the hockey being played in it right now is way worse......... No argument can be made here. Quote
snova4 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Maybe they better turn the heat up in the Ralph this week in prep for Fargo. Get some slushy ice, because from what I've seen, Scheel's isn't going to be any better and they'll be one and done next week if they play like this. Quote
dagies Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Ice seemed better today with colder temps in the bld and maybe an extra day to set up Quote
dagies Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 The exit/wrist band issue appeared to be fixed. They were just handing out wrist bands this time instead of applying them. Quote
cberkas Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 So I guess there is talk to have the NCHC and WCHA share the same arena for the conference tournament, or that's what was said during the on FSN North during the Mankato-Michigan Tech game. Quote
Frozen4sioux Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 That would be a good weekend of hockey in a good place.....pig6 would need to find a permanent home in some high school rink to have a chance at filling the palce Quote
bincitysioux Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 How long is the contract with Target Center? I thought it was like 5 years. Quote
MafiaMan Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 That would be a good weekend of hockey in a good place.....pig6 would need to find a permanent home in some high school rink to have a chance at filling the palce Bloomington Ice Gardens would work. Quote
90siouxfan Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Absolutely nothing had changed at TC since the 2001 WCHA Final Five. Spent the championship game freezing in the upper deck. I don't think staff there can tell the difference between a puck and a pumpkin. And that includes the body searches. Totally clueless. So which were you trying to smuggle in? Quote
bcblues Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Well, the music was a bit better tonight. The announcer was still pretty much AWOL. But the way we played was way more pathetic than the venue. Quote
focker Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 What a complete waste of time this tourney was... Heard many sioux fans comment that they weren't coming back next year and I don't blame them... Target Center is the oldest venue in the NBA and is a complete dump but the way they run it makes things even worse. Quote
Telly33 Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of B10/WCHA Super-Tournament held at the X in a few years... I was going to suggest this as well. Some sort of joint tournament between some combination of the NCHC/B10/WCHA leagues seems like it has to be the logical progression. Share the expense and mutually benefit from more hockey fans in one location. For as great as we Sioux fans are and as much fun as it is to laugh at the failure of the B10 tournament, there are some very ugly potential scenarios attendance-wise for the Frozen Faceoff as well. Picture an oddball year where UND, SCSU, and Duluth all miss the FF. You would be able to hold that tournament at Eagles Arena. It will be interesting to see how all of the realignment growing pains shake out in the coming years. You would think there would have to be some changes on the horizon though. Quote
southpaw Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 So I guess there is talk to have the NCHC and WCHA share the same arena for the conference tournament, or that's what was said during the on FSN North during the Mankato-Michigan Tech game. The only talk about this is by people who have no idea about the contracts. Quote
Telly33 Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Are these eternal contracts? Were they written in blood? Quote
siouxkid12 Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Well, the music was a bit better tonight. The announcer was still pretty much AWOL. But the way we played was way more pathetic than the venue. Just got home from the Target Center and I am disappointed again! I cringed every time I had to go into the arena, it was almost like going into a morgue. The music they play is terrible; it wasn't "hockey" music, it was basketball music. I mean seriously, you can't get a good list of hockey music? I'll help you out: Jughead- the hockey song Gear Daddies - Zamboni Van Halen - Jump Thin Lizzy - Boys are back in town Steel Dragon - Stand Up and Shout (everyone probably knows when this song should be played) Iron Maiden - The Wickerman BTO - Taken Care of Business Nickelback - Burn it to the ground Blur- Song 2 Metallica - Enter Sandman Ozzy- Crazy Train GnR - Welcome to the Jungle Motley Crue - Kickstart my heart Puddle of Mudd - Famous The Who - Wont get fooled again Def Leppard - Lets get Rocked anyone else has any suggestions?? Siouxman Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 It is time to tell the Target Center that if you guys can't figure out how to install hockey boards, we are out of here. The crazy and inconsistent bounces make a joke out of the games. There are screwball bounces coming off the joints between the glass panes. There were several bounces in the championship game where the puck was shot into the boards at an angle, and it came back to the player at the same angle instead of angling up the ice. The base of the boards is a joke. Sometimes there is no bounce at all, and sometimes it is an extreme bounce. And it is up to each player to guess what the angle will be each time. There is absolutely no consistency to these boards. The Sioux goal today was directly a result of a goofy bounce. The puck was ringing the end boards and the Denver goalie started back to play the puck. Normally this would not have been a problem. But the puck took a goofy bounce off the boards, the goalie held up because he couldn't tell where the puck was going. The Sioux recovered the puck, which they never should have, passed it out and scored. It is difficult enough to deal with goofy bounces from bad ice, but these boards make a joke out of the games. Completely unacceptable. Quote
CMSioux Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 I don't think this suggestion has been aired: STOP featuring gopher fans in the down time contests and on the big screen. They aren't in our conference they have nothing to do with the tournament. it is obvious a lame attempt by the production crew to add some emotion to the lame atmosphere that they have created and perpetuate. Another possibility is that the production crew is all gopher fans and they think it's fun to get a reaction from UND fans. Would the Big 10 conference ever feature UND fans during the Big 10 tournament - well they probably could and the 100 fans in attendance wouldn't notice. 3 Quote
