GoalieMask Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 http://www.uscho.com/rankings/d-i-mens-poll/ Now, if only we can claim that on April 12th! 1 Quote
siouxfan512 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Its fun to see the Sioux with a #1 next to their name, but this really is meaningless at this point. They should be able to hold the spot through next week with Lake Superior State coming up. After this hot of a start, I am really hoping they can pull off the patented second half run, but the schedule will get much tougher after this weekend. Quote
UNDBIZ Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Is the #1 ranking a kiss of death? Simple question. Quote
yelo09 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Is the #1 ranking a kiss of death? Simple question. It should not be for this weekend, Lake Superior St is not a good hockey team this year....and the boys better not look past them after Bemidji debacle 1 Quote

Simple question. 3 Quote

Simple question. Probably….but talent for talent this team should not have been that embarrassed especially in the home opener, honestly I think they looked past them a little bit, so hopefully that doesn’t happen the rest of the season. It was a great lesson to learn early on, just as long as they don’t forget it. With no clear cut power house in the Hockey world this year (up to this point) this UND team has a great chance at going deep into the NC$$ tournament just need to stay focused, after watching the third period on Friday night I would say they still have some work to do in that department, granted UNO probably skated harder than any team we have played so far but we looked gassed and that shouldn’t happen to a top tier program with some of the best training facilities in the country. Quote
MafiaMan Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I won't. To each his own, I guess. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that when the 1997 team 20-year reunion rolls around in a little more than two years, no one in attendance will waste time complaining about the 10 spot that the Gophers put on the board against them in early November of 1996. Goon Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 We are Nodak! Always have the bullseye, it is just slightly bigger now. One of the Fox Sports reporter asked Hakstol at a press conference if his team had a bull's eye on their chest. Hakstol replied, "We've had a bull's eyes on us for 30 years." it was classic. 2 Quote

After this hot of a start, I am really hoping they can pull off the patented second half run, but the schedule will get much tougher after this weekend. With away series at Miami and UNO next semester and UMD at home, it will be a real challenge to replicate their usual second half surge. But there is something about this team that is special. Not sure what it is, maybe he lack of a real star. They skate well throughout the lineup, and maybe they understand that they all can and must make a difference. It's a good bunch. Quote
Godsmack Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I like the fact that the 7th place team in the NCHC opened up a can of whoop a$$ this past weekend in their tournament against Non-conference foes OSU and Union. It speaks to the quality of our conference. I think the fact that virtually every team in the NCHC is in a dog fight with one another will make us battle-tested come tournament time. I wouldn't be shocked to see UND (and everyone else except, perhaps, CC) continue to have splits and see their rankings fluctuate. 1 Quote
.357 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 ...But there is something about this team that is special. Not sure what it is, maybe the lack of a real star... I'm looking for qualities in this team that resemble those of the 1996-97 freshman class who brought home two national championships. Peter Armbrust was in that class & he didn't have the greatest of talent, but he had a lot of character & played big in big games. There weren't any outstanding stars in that class that I remember.. 1 Quote
siouxnami Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I know it doesn't mean a thing, but I still love it. #sorry #honest Quote
