Well it's official...................................the Cleveland Indians are removing the Chief Wahoo logo from jerseys and caps for the upcoming season.

..........................................and somewhere Leigh Jeanotte is lighting up a peace pipe.

Chief Wahoo will be around for

the 2018 season, but that’s it.

If and when UND unveils their mascot, can we save this picture for the "it could have been worse" response?!!

Its suppose to be modeled after the Phillie Phanatic. I am shocked Native Americans didn't protest this, the same way they were unpleased with Thunder the Bleacher Creature.

2019 season.  It'll be on the jerseys and hats for 2018.

Note to self:  Buy an Indians hat in 2018.

A first shot at the team with the "ND" logo and the Fighting ----- nickname?

The guy is a freaking tool. Every time I see him he is arguing some mundane BS. Guess hes trying to steal some of Baylesses thunder.

"During a debate Tuesday over the Cleveland Indian's recent decision to drop their "Chief Wahoo" logo, ESPN "First Take" host Max Kellerman argued the Notre Dame Fighting Irish mascot is offensive as well.

Kellerman said he is personally thanked every time he visits a reservation for his public opposition to Native-American mascots in sports.

"When I go to Native-American reservations around the country to call fights, I am approached—I've received feathers in honor and letters saying, ‘Thank you for your stance,'" he said.

Based on that anecdotal evidence, he dismissed a Washington Post survey that found nine out of 10 Native-Americans are not offended by team names like the NFL's Washington Redskins."

what a load of crap...

Not Native American, but you knew this was coming at some point. I guess we will see how far it goes.

They can still make money off of the interlocking ND logo. Hmmm....where have I heard that before?

About 25% of my casual clothes are Notre Dame apparel.  I think one of the T-shirts has an Irish guy on it.

Notre Dame has the money to fight off any contest.  I would be VERY surprised to see them let it get far.  The Fighting Irish brand is probably  among  the most valuable name in collegiate athletics.

apparently a B and a W inside a circle inside of a spear constitutes a "mascot" these days.  (Baldwin-Woodville Blackhawks).

Curious as to why Prescott students are protesting the nickname "Chieftains" and not the actual town name - "Osceola?"

Osceola and Baldwin-Woodville respond...

Well, since the other 75% is Bison gear, your math adds up.

I think I have two NDSU shirts.

So then it's more like 33.3% of your casual clothes are Notre Dame apparel...
