They will drop down to FCS in the Big Sky and keep football. If they and the BSC ends up moving to the 2nd tier (currently the G5 of the FBS) of college football, it will be at the same time as a major College Football realignment when the top 4 or 5 FCS conferences in the country will move up at the same time. This whole BSC to the FBS as it currently exists is just a bunch of BS from SV.

Having Idaho in the BSC gives them zero advantage over the MVFC. And both conferences have equal numbers of teams that are both capable and incapable of making the move to the FBS in it's current form. If the rules are changed by the NCAA, it will open up the road for all FCS conferences to make the move, not just the BSC.They won't all make the move, but they will all have an equal chance to meet the new requirements. They aren't going to write new rules to allow only one conference to qualify as SV would have you believe.

Would tend to agree with this.  If Big Sky moves up so would the valley.

The Idaho AD addressed it and said it is possible one way but not another.  Tells me he has already had the discussion with somebody so it's not completely made up.

Having Idaho in the conference is great for the conferences overall academic/athletic profile.  They aren't a regional junior college teachers school like some other FCS teams are.

I never got the whole "break FBS apart," You'd sure think the G5 would do everything they can for that not to happen. One one hand they complain about not wanting to be FCS and how its 2nd tier that nobody pays attention too. Then on the other hand claim how great it would be to compete with "like minded" institutions.

Do they not realize they would be essentially "FCS" with the break and a bunch of current FCS teams would join "watering it down."

And a bunch of G5 teams doing everything they can to try and get a P5 invite. Thus, ending up in the exact same situation.

We know FBS Indy is a challenging proposition, particularly from a scheduling standpoint. But is there a 2-3 year window where the conference landscape changes and Idaho finds itself with an opportunity to join a western FBS conference?
RS: “I think there are a couple ways that you approach that. I think there is an opportunity with some schools out west. If you can align yourself with them in the right way, it may be possible to create an FBS conference. Now, that is going to be challenging and will not be accomplished immediately. In this environment anything can happen in two years or four years.

The smoke is forming....

But the Valley would not take the Dakotas with them.  That is the point.  NDSU or SDSU or USD don't have a conference that is looking out for their FBS interests.  UND has the Big Sky, which has our back.

Affiliations mean little, especially at the FBS level.  Witness NMSU and Idaho.  If the MVC was serious about NDSU not leaving them, they would offer a full membership.  They have refused that and it speaks volumes how much NDSU is valued by the MVC.

What are you talking about? The mvc conference is basketball only, they don't move up to fbs, the mvfc is the football conference. They are the ones that would move up.

You aren't aware apparently that FBS conferences disdain affiliates.  Hawaii has with the MWC and Navy with the American have the last affiliate deals.

So the MVC will offer NDSU an affiliate FBS membership.  You are apparently a comedian.   :D:lol::silly:

Your brain has wrapped around the concept that the NCAA requires FBS conferences to be full conferences apparently.  FCS  conferences don't need a bona fide conference.  FBS must be a conference in good standing that sponsors 16 sports and has eight FBS members.

I've reiterated that point for eons but the bizon trolls just can't conceive of why the MVC and MVFC screws them.

The MVC will take footballke internal, add NMSU, Lamar, Sam Houston, ND Wichita State starts football.

NDSU, SDSU, USD, W Ill, and Youngstown St are kicked to the curb.

At that point either the Slummit invites Mankato and Lindenwoood and Grand Valley to start their own little FCS conference, or the Dakotas take up the BIG Sky offer and joins FBS.

Dont bother. The hallucinagenics  from the sweatlodge are at work again. You either have to read between the lines or be at the same level of intoxication to see the scenario-- visions he does.

Maybe if you just looked up the FBS rules for once you'd understand that you have no business trolling.

I understand the rules. Its your one sided non-sensical scenarios that are the issue. Dont be so serious. Smile. Life is good.

siouxvolley, altho nmsu is about as far away from gf as you can get do you think the bigsky/wac has a shot at them joining um, msu, idah, und, cal poly and such or do you see them staying a little more south?

and speaking of affiliates do you see hawaii and the mwc staying with their affiliate only status for the forseeable future?

and total long shot but with the split coming soon wonder if schools like usu and wyoming which are very similar to um msu idaho and und leaving the mwc to save money, build more regional rivalries and whatnot...the mwc seems to have a few high budget schools (south) and a few lower budget schools(north)...must make some conference members a little nervous with the split coming soon?

Although NMSU has a history in the WAC and Big West and would prefer a western conference, see then teaming up with Wichita St and going where ever they find an FBS home.  The Big Sky is a backup plan for NMSU.

Think Hawaii is in the MWC for the duration.

The Front Range schools of CSU, AFA, and UNM and Boise, Fresno and San Diego St make up the first tier of the MWC.  Some of these schools might get offers from the AMERICAN, CUSA, or less likely, the Big 12.  Think the MWC will hold on tight to Wyo, Utah St, San Jose St, Hawaii, and Nevada, as they would be needed in the future.

It tells he has already decided to drop down to an FCS BSC and he is trying to save face by hinting there is a chance the BSC will go FBS. He is the first AD to drop his FB program from FBS to FCS and he has to give his FB fans (as few as there actually are by the drop FB campaign) a glimmer of hope they won't be dropping down.

The Deputy Commissioner of the BSC was on Kolpack and Izzo on Saturday and they asked him about BSC to FBS. He didn't make it sound like anything there are seriously looking at. He made it sound like more of a pipe dream by a few than a movement by the masses.

Who said it was a movement by the masses?  The fact is that it only takes 6 schools to be together for X number of years to move up to FBS.  That is what he stated and what I reiterated.  Stay focused.
