redwing77
Agreed. Even last year up here in GF he was one of the cockiest players I've witnessed. I had the pleasure of discussing a few topics with him in the penalty box, and I've never met another with the attitude he has. If daddy wasn't the coach, where do you think he'd be playing right now? One thing I give him credit for though is he hustles about twice as much as most other Gopher players. I'll add in Lasch and JP Testwuide. Would he be playing if he was on another team or if his dad wasn't the coach? Yes. And you said why. He hustles and plays with a ton of grit. Is he cocky? Yeah. Does he have an attitude? Yup. Folks, like him or hate him, I really think Lucia is Minnesota's answer to Kaip or Prpich. And, no, it makes little difference to his attitude off the ice. And, no, it makes little difference to his attitude off the ice. I did mention that. My question was more asking where he'd be playing instead of Minnesota. Or, is he Minnesota worthy? He doesn't fit the mold, IMO, of a typical Gopher player...which actually makes him a good addition, one they probably wouldn't make if tDon wasn't the head of the horse. Goon
Ulf used his body and whatever else he carried to attempt to injure the best players on the opponent' teams. I suppose that is for the good of his team. Cherry was absolutely right on Ulf. Yeah good point Sprig I find it funny that DaveK likes this moron. Here is the kind of guy Ulf Samuelsson is one of the most gutless, dirtiest turtles to ever play the game of hockey. This dirty hit eventually ruined the carreer of an all star forward. Funny thing Don Cherry was right on Samuelsson. Watch the tape he was taking guys out left and right and these guys shouldn't make it right because they should expect it. Here is Ulfie faking an injury, what a gutless piece of **** Don Cherry said Ulfie day was coming and he we right, live by the sword you die by the sword. ejake24
Did anyone notice Pat (equipment manager) giving it to the refs after they escorted Jonesy to the bench? I love to see that. One Sioux sticking up for another. That just shows the pride and loyalty everyone in the Sioux organization has. Tonya would have been sorry if he had actually faced Zach. It's my opinion that Jones is our best and most solid and consistent defenseman, but I would have gladly seen him sit out Friday versus Tech if baby Lucia would have had the cahones to stand up and drop the gloves. It's too bad that he lived up to his Gopher brethren and chose to run and hide. I've met Zach personally and have encountered him several times throughout the four years I've been at UND. Aside from the rage blackouts, he is one of the most cool-headed players on our squad. I am proud that he stood up for his teammates the way he did. Under the current definition of agitator in the NHL Lucia probably would fit, gutless, runs around taking liberities when called to face the bell turtles, that would probably be about right. Luica, Loftguard and Flynn kind of remind me of a gutless puke like Pittsburgh's Matt Cooke.
Gopherguy33
I have actually come across many Gopher fans who are simply embarrassed by all of it. Getting out skated, out shot, out hit, out hustled, out goaltended, out scored. One of my friends even said that it might be the lowest point in Gopher history. It is acceptable to lose, it is unacceptable to lose with disgrace and cowardice. +1 Not the all-time low point, just a series. You don't win or lose anything in January. That was a long drive home on Sunday. Tip my hat to your squad and also your fans. Was almost like you felt sorry for us at the bars I will take solace in the fact that neither team has played like that this year and my team will rebound. If your team plays like they did this weekend, might as well crown 'em. Very impressive performance and you have to be happy with BE and how they took advantage of most opportunities. Got a tour of the Ralph weight room etc. Very impressive. Love the new Stanley Cup wall and NHL display. Turning the page to SCSU.
LB#11
It is clear that any attempt at analogy or explanation of the code is simply lost on some on this board. I am not a huge proponent of fighting either, but it does have its place. I think a lot of hockey people know what the code is. Is it right or wrong? Personally, I think it is what it is. If you're good enough to play college hockey, you know what the code is. Tony Lucia knows the code, he choose to back down.
Let'sGoHawks!
Not sure if this is posted elsewhere. On Tim and Swyg on KFAN this morning, Malone and Martens were on. Tim discussed the weekend, and one topic was the Jones incident. Here is what the players said, and I am paraphrasing: Trupp was butt ended by Lucia. They said of all people, Trupper wouldn't lay on the ice and fake it, as he crawled off with a broken leg and bad shoulder already in his UND career. He is a tough kid. They said Lucia agreed to a fight at or around the faceoff, and when Jonesy dropped em, he skated away. They said Jonesy wasn't in his rage blackout stage until he saw Lucia skating away. (Malone added that if he saw Jonesy wanting to fight, he'd run away and tip the net over himself for protection) One of the players mentioned he had heard what Hill said about it being classless, Tim and the players all agreed that when Lucia agreed to fight and then skated away was classless in the sport of hockey, inferring that you have to respect the "code". Very interesting stuff.

Lucia cheap shots Trupp. Jones stands up for Trupp. Lucia and Jones agree to go at it to settle the spear and then Lucia tucks his onions up into his abdomen. Classless on lil' tDon's part for the spear and not manning up.

I wouldn't want Lucia (the player) to play on my FB team either. He has shown himself to be a coward as well as a cheap shot. You couldn't count on him. I wouldn't go to war with him either but that is a totally different subject. These are the kids who play for a coach who doesn't want his recruits playing high school FB. They might get hurt. BFD. No wonder the Gophers got their ass kicked despite all the talent they have. If I wear on the Gopher hockey team I would kick lucia's ass for being a pussy and embarassing the rest of the team.
