  1. I'll be there in ROW FIVE, section 114. My excitement for the Final Five has been growing since we got tickets back in January. Me and my superfan buddies will be there with bells on. We were even featured on the video compilation tonight after the MacNaughton presentation...finally some recognition for our dedication hahaha. Anyways, LET'S GO SIOUX! Let's go for three titles in '09.
  2. I heard the ramp was full at 9 am, and it was still full when I went to class at around 1. There were, of course, some pay spots open and a crap load of reserved spots. It's sure nice that they built this parking ramp for us so that it can sit half-empty all day because UND insists on charging $600 a semester for a spot in it. I was a little surprised that parking was as difficult as it was today...figured there would be a lot more skippers. I think the ramp was full because it is on the east side of campus, right next to all the science buildings, and Lord knows that they will NEVER cancel a science class. I got a little sick of all my friends who have class in Gamble all day telling me how all their classes were cancelled. Oh well, one more thing to add to the awesome list of reasons to (not) be a biology major.
  3. all this talk about grinders is making me hungry. might have to make a little red pepper run...
  4. The participation banner is the first thing I noticed. I guess not everyone has the privilege of hanging seven national championship banners in their rink. I do, however, give props to Notre Dame for improving their hockey program (mostly because of being at the F4 in Denver and seeing first-hand that they have some loyal fans). On a side note, does anyone else feel that Michigan has the ugliest helmets in all of hockey? I mean really, why would a person design something that unappealing? Even after watching the Habs lose to the Bruins today in those awful striped jerseys, Michigan has to have the ugliest apparel in hockey solely because of those helmets. On another side note, I wish those ugly striped "Where's Waldo?" jerseys would have got a goal in the end...sorry Goon, I know you are a Bruins fan, but I can't bring myself to cheer for a team with Wheeler and Kessel on the roster. If only Tim Thomas wasn't so good and would let a goal in every once in a while. At least my Hawks are in the East and (hopefully) won't see Boston and Thomas in the post-season until the Stanley Cup finals... *hopefully*
  5. Did anyone notice Pat (equipment manager) giving it to the refs after they escorted Jonesy to the bench? I love to see that. One Sioux sticking up for another. That just shows the pride and loyalty everyone in the Sioux organization has. Tonya would have been sorry if he had actually faced Zach. It's my opinion that Jones is our best and most solid and consistent defenseman, but I would have gladly seen him sit out Friday versus Tech if baby Lucia would have had the cahones to stand up and drop the gloves. It's too bad that he lived up to his Gopher brethren and chose to run and hide. I've met Zach personally and have encountered him several times throughout the four years I've been at UND. Aside from the rage blackouts, he is one of the most cool-headed players on our squad. I am proud that he stood up for his teammates the way he did.
  6. I wore my white jersey to begin with, but I brought my black breezer with just in case. We haven't lost a game when I've been wearing the breezer, and I broke down right before the puck dropped and put the black on. I loved the white out, but my superstitions got the best of me. Needless to say, I will be wearing the breezer again tonight.
  7. I think you are referring to my post in the Gopher taunts thread. The taunter was my buddy who was sitting right in front of me on the glass. BJ (the security guard) was being pretty cool letting us harass the rodents, it was pretty funny some of the stuff he said to them and their reactions. I guess they showed him for quite some time on TV, too. Got a nice response when he was on the bigscreen.
  8. link: http://video.yahoo.com/watch/692293/3121896 It's towards the end, with about 1:30 left in the video.
  9. Yeah I caught that skit on that Sports Extra the night it aired and noticed the Sioux celebration. Sweet sassy molassey.
  10. HA! I can see the back of my head in that picture. Nice one.
  11. Haha, they tried to steal my seats when I was up at the bar before the game. Since we had been in line since 8 a.m. and they had just got there, they were swiftly denied and my buddy started a "jersey chaser" chant at them later in the game. Don't get me wrong, though, they were definitely eaaasy on the eyes.
  12. Good riddance to them in my opinion. If the butt filling up the seat isn't being screamed off, I'm sure we can find someone to fill the seat whose will.
  13. Man you are so completely breaking my heart here WiSioux. No booze, no tents...what next, no relentless heckling of opposing players in the penalty box? No matter, like you said I don't think anyone will really enforce the whole no tent thing, especially with the weather we've been having.
  14. This all depends on whether you have lower bowl or upper bowl tickets. If you have lower bowl tickets, you usually need a student ID card, but since this game is not included in our student season ticket packages, you probably will not for this game. The students line up on the south end of the REA. Lower bowl is let in 1.5 hours before faceoff and upper bowl is let in 1 hour before faceoff. If you are in lower bowl, after your ticket is scanned you need to get a stamp on your hand and on your ticket. Absence of either of these stamps will prohibit you from entering lower bowl. Seating is first come, first serve. I suggest getting there early, regardless of the temperature that day. I'm planning on being there around noon with a tent and a spaceheater. On a brighter note, I think that we can maybe have beer in the student section this game, since this game wasn't included in our season ticket packages. We usually can not bring any in either the lower or upper bowl. Oh, and prepare to be heckled wearing that Goofer jersey in our student section. It's all in good fun, of course. Go Sioux!
  15. Yeah, we have that one covered. We take it to a little more personal level, however. My friends and I have sat directly next to the opponent's penalty box for the past three years, and the security guard that's always in the box is cool with us unabashedly taunting the opposing players that are in there. My buddy's brother has been pretty clutch this year. He has had the names of the parents, sisters, and the major of every player for every game thus far. We have gotten some pretty interesting looks from some players that didn't know what sort of fans there are at the REA.
  16. Does anyone know if the Wild/Blackhawks game is on FSN North tonight? I really hope so. I don't want to have to wait until New Years day to watch the Hawks, although the Winter Classic will be worth the wait.
  17. Priceless Tim H quote, as Watty gets sent to the box for no apparent reason after getting checked from behind: "......huh?" Followed by a long, dumbfounded pause. Officiating at its finest. Even veteran wordsmith Tim Hennessy couldn't find the words to describe such a horrible call.
  18. KFYR is 550 AM, but I don't think they carry the Sioux games. I listened to the game on 1390 out of Minot last night, so it was definitely on that station. I just turned the radio to 1390 a minute ago and they had football on (the Bears I think), so who knows whether today's game will be broadcast on 1390. On separate note, let's get a GD win today. I don't only want a win, i want a rout. Losing to Michigan State is completely unacceptable, but losing to Tech the next day would be disastrous. Let's just get out there and score some goals. Five or six would be nice.
  19. I too am frustrated, but I still have faith. I pray every night that we will have the after Christmas turn around that we've seen in past years, but I really have my doubts that it will take place. I think that we will improve and compete at the level of an upper echelon WCHA team, but I don't see us going on a crazy streak like we did last year. The problem I've observed is that we don't have the leadership and performance of our upper-classmen that we've had in the past few years. I expected Kozek to have a near-Hobey (meaning more than solid and a leader for our team, but not necessarily spectacular nationally) year this season, and he has yet to do anything. I was disappointed to see a change in lines from Friday night, since I thought we finally found a groove offensively with what we had that particular night. I'm not one to jump on the bandwagon for Mario in respect to our record when he plays, but on Friday I saw a lot of positives out of him that, to me, earns him a spot in the lineup (i.e. a very physical presence and a lot of hard work). And as far as defense goes, we have work to do. I love Chay G to death, but he needs to realize when it's appropriate to shoot the puck and, more importantly, when it's important not to. Miller has been doing great, but needs to take more of a D-man mentality and look to defend and assist more than to score. I expected more out of LaPoint this year. In my eyes, Blood has shown more promise as a solid D-man than LaPoint. It's my opinion that Malone should sit a game or two. In two years, he has yet to show me anything that will earn him a guaranteed spot in the lineup. I'd much rather see Lammy or Toews in the game. Let's just hope for a berth in the tournament where we can show our true worth. I'd love to make a third consecutive trip to the Frozen Four to watch our Sioux in action.
  20. A split with the number one team in the nation in their barn? I am content with that. Saw a lot of good things this weekend. Hextall and Toews are starting to come alive and get a feel for the WCHA game. Once we get our defensemen healthy, I think we will be a very dangerous team.
  21. Keep in mind we are very dinged up right now, and there have been a lot of oddities in this game tonight. Going by the past few years, I would not be at all surprised to see another 18 game win streak after Christmas this year. We have the talent, we have the coaching, we just need to start clicking and firing on all cylinders.
  22. I'm sorry to say it sounds like we are running out of gas. NO! VV scores on his own net. CC goal. F
  23. I'm really loving Mills as a D-Man right now. Seems much more consistent here than at the forward spot.
