the upper few windows facing uni in nistler have green lights on at night...not sure if that's every night or just something they do but it looks kinda cool from uni...kinda light the aerospace tower and the union "tower" with the championship green lights glowing up there.

Still fund-raising. Work on the P3 already underway, tho, with a late August ceremonial groundbreaking in the works. P3 and PAC 2 are separate projects (to be connected by the Hawk walk)that will eventually work together to transform UND Athletics. There won't be anything like it in the Upper Midwest, in my biased opinion. Exciting times ahead. Imagine a student-athlete being able to live in the upper floors of the P3, with coaches offices, student-athlete academic spaces, meeting rooms and community rooms on the first floor, all overlooking a new carpet and track... connected underroof by the Hawk Walk to the PAC 2, where you'll likely have weights, locker rooms athletic training, etc. One stop athletics shop.

I drove over Columbia Rd Overpass on campus today and snapped this shot on the go.
The hole in the ground is getting bigger.

will they be closing off the road that runs between the library and law school?  this looks to be just a wide sidewalk like the one run behind the union all the way to gamble?

The view to the south needs improvement, something better than a graffiti covered box car.  ;)

To be clear, ground has already broken on the Memorial Village Project, which is the public/private partnership that UND has initiated with Memorial Village LLC. This is the development that will go on the site of the old Memorial Stadium grandstand. The event on Thursday is the ceremonial "groundbreaking" to celebrate this project as the first in a series of new developments that are planned for that part of campus, including Pollard Center 2, for which funds are still being raised.

The Memorial Village project's ground floor will hold offices for UND Athletics Department and all the coaches who now have office space in Hyslop and Starcher Hall. It also is slated to have community-use space, and student-athlete academic/study spaces. There also will be several floors of market-rate apartments available for rent to the public above the ground floor. Also slated to be part of the project is the "Hawk Walk," a glass enclosed walkway that will follow the curve of the old Memorial's iconic north wall. The plan is to utilize the wall as one side of the Hawk Walk. The Hawk Walk will connect to the existing Pollard Athletics Center on the east side of the old Memorial outdoor practice turf.

Fundraising is still underway for the Pollard Center 2 extension to the existing PAC. This extension will eventually be home to player locker rooms, weight lifting facilities, and a UND Sports Medicine area.

also hope when this all done that the area around our grass practice field gets "cleaned up" a bit...the road that sweeps around EERC getting paved, bushes or trees to hide trains/trax, clean up some of the crap nears those trees to the east...maybe even some bench seating between the field and the rr trax for fans?

Anything interesting beyond a photo-op happen here?

Good turnout.
Exciting project.
Need to close the final gap to get Phase 2 of HPC going, hoping to have it done in the next month so they can announce it at homecoming and have them being built and open simultaneously.

Was kind of hoping that announcement would be today.

Yeah, I'm greedy that way.

Did ya say "Hi" to Steve Burian for me? :)

This is great.  I'm still annoyed by how the Alumni Association and the athletic department is going about fundraising for phase two.  I am starting to doubt that they will ever truly have a public fundraising phase.  Everyone knows about phase two so why isn't there a webpage to promote the project and ask for donations, like pretty much every single other schools that successfully fundraise does?  Pretty sure they have been "close" to completing the fundraising for phase two for a couple years.

"We are very close to completing the fundraising for Phase 2," said DeAnna Carlson Zink, CEO of the UND Alumni Association & Foundation. "Wouldn't it be great if we could have another groundbreaking celebration in the spring and can open the Pollard Athletic Center addition at the same time the Memorial Village opens in 2024?"

So looking at the picured of the new Memorial Village, it shows the football field with just lines for football.  Looking back on an article from 2021, there are soccer field lines on the field.  I wonder if they decided against it since 2021.  In my opinion, playing at Memorial Field  seems like a much better place than playing in front of the REA.  Unless they asked the soccfer coaches and they said they would rather play on grass.
