please no....not happy about the walkway at all and then this???? gimme a break.

What don't you like about the walkways?  The one from the new college of business to merrifield looks pretty good imo.  However, I think that new Merrifield entrance is Akin to someone polishing an antique coin... kinda worried it will destroy the character and aesthetics of one of the most photographed and iconic buildings on campus.

leave historical buildings alone...merrifield is pretty much untouched...even their handicap entrance blends well unlike some othters on campus

my fav in town is city hall....totally blends the old and new!!!!! haha...can't tell anything was added to the old front side!!!!!!!!!!

Skyways/walkways are needed as a student recruitment tool.

Potential student: "North Dakota? It's cold!"
Recruiter: "Our campus is skyway connected. You never walk outside between buildings."

hate that argument...but don't we have underground tunnels around campus already?

For the steam pipe system to heat buildings, sure.

Between buildings in the Walsh Complex, yep. Pseudo-tunnels to get around the Wilkerson Complex.

But between main academic buildings? No.

Union to Okelly is that only one I can think of.  Wonder if it is connected to the new union?

This is a game changer. I've heard the horror stories about the Football offices. This would be a nice addition for the UND football team.

Other large projects in the works include the new Memorial Village, and an addition to the west side of the Fritz Pollard Athletic Center, which Pieper said could begin soon. The former is set to be a five-level structure at the site of the Memorial Stadium that housed UND football. The top four floors will be private apartments, and the first floor will be leased by UND from the UND Foundation for athletic offices.

A planned addition to the Pollard Center would finish off the building by adding a weight room and locker rooms, as well as other auxiliary spaces — amenities which were not included in the original design due to funding constraints. The overall design, Pieper said, is to create a “wet space” in the Pollard Center, with the “dry space” being in the Memorial Village building.

The Pollard Center Phase 2, Memorial Village, new business school, new union, new dorms and the many other new buildings should boost recruiting in nearly every sport. It would be nice if the university promoted all of these things a bit more via social media, etc.

man the union is nice....nistler is gonna be stunning

even okelly looks better with their new windows

Rumor new softball field by memorial

Not a rumor as much as Chaves is actively pitching the idea to donors. It's part of his vision to put softball on campus directly north of Pollard, between University Avenue and 2nd Ave N. on the east half of current parking lot.

Must not be too good with donors if he can’t raise enough for a softball field

So, a rumor of softball on campus, east of Nut Lab, between University and the Pollard Center.

Whodathunk it. ... (see page 3 of 25).

I've like the idea since I first saw that plan in ... August of 2018. It will make a nice entrance to campus when westbound on University.

PS - If Chaves is floating building the softball field it's probably a "tell" that they have what they need (or are right there) for Phase II at Pollard. That would make sense given the recent GFH article about construction starting this summer on Memorial Village and ... Phase II. Seems someone's doing fundraising.

PPS - Page 3 of 25 ... I still say they have a plan for a future parking ramp on the east end of the bridge to nowhere (dead north of old Memorial field). That'd be awesome if you lived in Memorial Village ... covered parking!

You probably have that much in the cup holder of your personal vehicle.
Swing on over to Hyslop, see Bill, let him vacuum out your ride.
Make him wash it too while you're at it.

:silly:

He rubs us a weird way
