Nice story from Schloss today on the goaltenders for UND's past national championships.

I will be the jerk that fact checks him though as he has Karl beating Niagara, then Maine, then BC in 2000.  Karl was actually the backup to Andy Kollar at Mariucci arena as he was still recovering from a concussion.

One other memory from the 2000 West Regional in Minneapolis ... Day 1 was two games, and it was COLD COLD COLD - as in too cold - in the arena.  And the ice seemed slow.

But on day 2, it was "normal".  UND played day two, and the ice seemed "normal".

I've always wondered if we got a slight favor from the ice crew ,,, (shakes off)  must be my imagination.

Does anybody know what the Las Vegas equivalent of Ferg's will be for the post-game celebrations Thursday & Saturday night?

Like your optimism.  :)

The only time to like these guys over there.

I wonder what percent of DU fans will be rooting of UND if it is a UND v. Michigan final.  I know for me I can't get myself to root for DU vs the Big Ten.

Here's the game everyone's been talking about recently.  Phil Sykes with the hatty for the Sioux!

Thanks for the replay, Blackheart.  Timely.  Couple of thoughts:

Kudos to Bucky fans for standing strong and loud long after the game was basically out of reach, even giving a standing O as the clock ran out.  And that wasn’t a Cinderella team, having won the title the year before.

Phil Sykes.  Any other Sioux play in 3 championship games, as he did?

I'm trying to think back to other seniors on the team.

Cary Eades is an obvious choice, and my first guess would be that he played in all three games.  I know Frank Burggraf was a senior in '82 as well.  For some reason, however, I don't remember him playing in the '82 championship game.  I don't know if he was injured or not.

I also think Mike Stone was a senior that year, but for some reason I thought he was one of those guys who played at UND for a year or two, then left, and then came back, and I'm too lazy to look up to see whether he was there for all three years.

It would have to be someone from that time frame, however, since we don't have three championship games in four years at any other point in time.

During my first tour at UND, I think the team had a Gary Burggraf.   Brother or cousin to Frank, maybe?

And when a Niagara player took two extra steps in the 3rd period so he could clobber Kollar, I went absolutely ballistic. If the rules on fighting weren't so strict, I think Mike Commodore would have wiped the ice with him.

That brought back memories so I looked for that game via @Blackheart on youtube, and sure enough its still there with Kollar getting steam rolled late in the 2nd, and Commodore wanting to kill the guy that dipped his shoulder into him.

The Blais interview between the second and third period is just classic Blais.  There is also a @MafiaMan sighting live and in person from that game next to a gal in a Michigan jersey of all things.
