All the NCHC tie-breaker info for the Penrose:

Both UND and WMU hold the tiebreaker over DU, so DU could still tie for the Penrose, but either UND or WMU will get the #1 seed for the NCHC tourney.

UND clinches the Penrose Cup outright with two or more points (a victory or two overtime games).

Yes, after leading the league all year, you don’t want to push it to the last game on the road in a hostile environment.  That would be a lot of pressure, and while that might give us a precursor to post season play, I would rather we take care of business tonight and lock down the #1 seed.

I like our chances as long as @MafiaMan is not in the building.  Sioux don't have a great record in the state of Michigan when Mafia is in attendance.

These are complicated times.   On one hand, we want to pick up critical NPI points, and this series is a perfect opportunity to do that.   On the other hand, we want nothing to do with chasing misplaced priorities and winning the Penrose.  We made that mistake too many times in the recent past.

The NPI is not a concern of mine.  The #1 overall seed is all but out of reach, and I don't see much advantage/disadvantage from being #2, #3, or #4.  Even dropping to #5, I am guessing the committee still places UND in Sioux Falls, since none of the #1 seeds would be a natural geographic fit.  We would sacrifice last line change in that scenario, but that's about it.  I do want to win the Penrose and have home ice all through the conf. playoffs, so I don't consider that a misplaced priority.

Well, if playing our best hockey at year's end results in better NPI and some hardware on the side, I'm all for it.  Ultimately there's only one trophy the team wants at the end of the year and you need to get to Vegas to make that happen.  Vegas baby!

Exactly. It’s all about getting back on track and playing their best hockey. It’s been a little rough around the edges lately even though they’ve had good outcomes.
