Remember word was their AD was one of the decision makers that kept us out of the playoffs a few years back and was negative about UND joining the MVFC. No way they do anything to energize North Dakota fans toward UND. I'm sure NDSU will always hold it against RT and UND for the bad blood in the last move up. I'll never understand why RT was against us moving up, but when he refused to play NDSU that's when things got ugly. He pretty much gave NDSU bulletin board material for them to use and of course Gene Taylor used it to retaliate. If the bill that congress is considering should pass, that will essentially freeze the P4 conferences at current membership and no move ups from the G6 in the near future if that happens. That will lock us out of any FBS consideration because none of the G6 teams will move on. Personally I'm fine in FCS, we still need to prove a few things first. 1 1 Quote

You're kidding, right? USD was never officially in the BSC, and I doubt the Sky wants us back. The XDSU's would be affected by the loss of two Summit League members would be the biggest factor, but it's not happening. Quote

I will never understand why people say it nor will I ever agree that UND should have kept playing NDSU once they moved up based on the rules at that time. I don't know the details of the playoff selection rules at that time but the end result is that playing, and even beating a I-AA (FCS) team worked against you when it came to D2 playoff selection. I believe there was some kind points system the committee was bound by. You don't need to look any further than NDSU's 2003 season - their last in D2. They went 8-3 overall, 5-2 in conference to finish second to UND and beat #3 I-AA Montana and still didn't make the playoffs. The reporting at that time said that if they had played and beat any D2 team rather than Montana they would have made the playoffs. It doesn't make sense but it was the rule and they knew it when they scheduled Montana. They were then upset that we didn't want to play them the very next year. Based on the rules, why would UND or anyone else agree to games that would harm their season even if they were a step up in division and even if you won? RT had an obligation to do what was best for UND at the time and making him the bad guy in the decision to stop the series is silly. Similar to today people where want Chaves to stand up for UND and tell schools to pound sand based on what's best for UND. RT did it. 3 Quote

Those that lived it understood there was no upside for a D2 UND to play a FCS SU. At the time it literally hurt your playoff chances. Seem to remember there was at least one team that did not make the playoffs because they played up and the game didn't count in their record. Of course Moo U was acting incredulous that UND would "end the rivalry" - they relished the thought of playing UND now that they had dozens more scholarships. The reality was they ended the rivalry with their move up. Quote
