UND-FB-FAN Posted Sunday at 01:43 PM Posted Sunday at 01:43 PM 24 hour rule. Onto the next big opportunity. UND Football has (rightfully so) advanced to the second round of the FCS playoffs and will visit No. 4 seed Tarleton State on Saturday, December 6, at 12:00 PM (CT). Another great opportunity for UND. Turns out, It’s a lot warmer in Texas than North Dakota, with lots of flight options from Fargo to Dallas. Head out there and support UND to another monumental playoff victory. Location: Memorial Stadium I Stephenville, TX Tickets are on sale now: BUY TICKETS HERE General admission seating with visiting (UND) fans sitting in bleachers behind the North End Zone Tickets are $12 Tarleton State (11-1) will be a tough opponent but a very good match-up and opportunity for UND to take the next step. Tarleton State has a notable FBS victory this year over Army (6-5), winning 30-27 in double overtime. One shared opponent between UND and Tarleton State and that is Portland State (Tarleton won 42-0 and UND won 50-20). of note (source: Grand Forks Herald) Portland State opened the season with a 42-0 loss to No. 5 Tarleton State, a team on the rise in the FCS. "They compare to Tarleton State," Barnum said. "I've seen them both. We were able to protect against Tarleton. We weren't able to protect against (UND). They pressured my quarterback. They hit my quarterback — hit him early, hit him late. They did everything to him." As we know, and not a surprise under Coach Schmidt; UND’s defense and particularly defensive front has been lights out. Offense still needs to take the next step, and I undoubtedly suspect they will. LETS GO HAWKS… head down to Texas and get it done and onto the next one THE JOB IS NOT DONE 1 Quote
forksandspoons Posted Sunday at 02:32 PM Posted Sunday at 02:32 PM Need to have a good week of practice and get some guys recovered. Hopefully the injuries from yesterday were minor. Wonder if Fleming comes back? I saw Deng left the game at one point yesterday. The corner position is hanging on by a thread. Hope it’s all hands on deck there! Quote
Oxbow6 Posted Sunday at 02:38 PM Posted Sunday at 02:38 PM Ziebarth needs a minimum of 18 touches. Romfo needs to start regardless of Jerry's availability. Fruechte needs to expand the play sheet from a one sided triple spaced page. Schmidt needs to say no FGA...period. 1 Quote

I think there’s a solution to the offensive struggles - although it’s not necessarily these two things you mention - and I’m confident we see it happen down in Texas next weekend. Quote

Longtime fan Posted Sunday at 04:24 PM Posted Sunday at 04:24 PM Tarleton will be a great test. Offensively they have multiple weapons. They use two qbs, three RBs, four WRs and one TE. The starting qb looks to be a good passer but doesn't like to run. The backup qb is big ..6’5” 230. Decent numbers. The starting rb is an absolute burner. Backing him up is a qb/rb. Very shifty and athletic very similar to Jericho McKinnon in his build and game. I assume he’s more rb than qb as he hasn’t thrown a pass. Two of the three starting WRs are Oklahoma sooner transfers . The one is a four star and was the 6th best wr in the class. Speed speed speed. Four guys average over 17 yards/ catch so they like to go deep. The TE has 10 catches 6 tds. He is their red zone factor. The OL is big and experienced. Not sure that will affect Und as they are used to big OL playing in the Mvfc. The D is all over the place with fronts. The last three games they have started a 3-5-3, 4-4-3 and 5-2-3. They are absolutely massive on the DL. When they go 3 man …6’3” 290, 6’4” 315 and 6’4” 285 Oregon st transfer. They will substitute in 6’1” 295, 6’4” 265 and 6’3” 265 (leads team with 9.5 sacks). Being big doesn’t guarantee of being good but they seem to have held their own this season. It’s their LB that looks to be their bread and butter tho. Six of the top 8 tacklers for Tarleton are LBs . There are two smaller LBs look to drop back often and help the secondary. Passing, by way of stats, looks to be very difficult against Tarleton as the LB assist and assist very well. They go six deep and combine some big size with speed. 6’4” 240 (8 sacks) 6’2” 230 6’0” 220 (speed, 3 INTs) 6’2” 235 6’2” 225 and 6’2” 190 (speed) Their two cbs are very slim but again speedy. Both 5’11” 175 ( 5 INTs for the left comer ) The safety is 6’4” 195. Tarleton has a lot of players with quality playing time. I would guess thats due to the fact they were blowing people out. Tarleton is winning on an ave 45-18. They have experience at every level. This will be a tough game. Tarleton is rested and ready. They have size, speed and experience. Can’t wait. Go Sioux! Quote
Cratter Posted Sunday at 04:32 PM Posted Sunday at 04:32 PM Puking from a concussion is never a good sign. It likely could mean previous concussions. And usually this takes more than 7 days to fully recover from. Coach said Jerry wanted to go right back in. 2 1 Quote

Wilbur Posted Sunday at 04:43 PM Posted Sunday at 04:43 PM Great opportunity for the team to take more strides against a good team. Concussions suck. When I was a young lad I was actually hospitalized with a concussion because I wouldn't stop throwing up and they had to hook me up to IV's. Hoping for Jerry that he experiences no PCS symptoms as thats another ball of wax to deal with. I've written the NCAA asking them to come up with a penalty when a player leads with the top or crown of the helmet into another player's head or neck area when hitting them. I think we should call it an aiming penalty. 2 1 Quote

Half a page? It ain't the NFL, but other O coaches seem to have at least one sheet with both sides heavily printed. Amazingly the offense seemed to perk up with Romfo in there. Maybe the Z factor and TTech was tired, but things sure looked better. Quote

siouxweet Posted yesterday at 03:42 AM Posted yesterday at 03:42 AM This Tart State outfit lost to Abilene Christian which NDSU beat by like 30 or 40 points in last year's playoffs. UND wins handily once again exposing a fraudulent team seeded no where near where it actually should be. 3 Quote
