Bring on the Salukis

UND should win by at least 2 TDs next week.  Salukis were exposed as an overrated turnover machine today.  They have some studs but that gets negated by giving the other team the football back.

Just would be nice to see us put together a full game or close.  Take out the 3rd quarter and it would have been pretty close to a perfect effort.  A few observations/thoughts:

It was pretty clear our defensive game plan was to spy the QB and not blitz a lot and keep him from running.  Only problem was the QB had a lot of time to throw as the 4 man rush couldn't get a finger on him and he's pretty good.  Seems our defensive backfield is much better than the last couple years and can actually get us off the field, however.

Jerry was solid the first half but the inaccuracy we've seen at times came back in the 2nd half.  Most of those deep balls were just chucked and not really close to being completions.  Even a few of his shorter completions in the 2nd half were way off target and took the receiver off balance and turned 8 yard gains into 2 yard gains.  Hoping Tai can get healthy.  It seems like the passing game disappears at times.  Wouldn't mind not seeing Dennis on the field.

The TD drive midway through the 4th - as has been mentioned, what are we thinking throwing the ball on 2nd AND 3rd and 1 from the 5?  Also as mentioned, run the play clock down - we easily could have run 1:30-2:00 more off on that drive.  Saw that in a game earlier this year too.

Is Caleb Olson out for the year?

Maybe if student section was full

student section will get smaller and smaller till the NDSU game.

not a hate tweet but our students won’t travel across demers from campus for games unless they hear “NDSU” or maybe “SDSU”. The cold is a big factor to. My source, I live on campus and talk to people everyday 🤣

Maybe tickets sold but not seats in butt all the big shots weren't there on UND side of probably only 1/2 to 3/4 full, it just depressing.

The 6 seats to my right in my row to the isle were empty.  Attendance is 100% tickets sold.

They announced a sellout at the Ralph last night too.

Haven’t read any post today.

My thoughts: the Online is not creating many holes.

The final TD came when the D knew the run was coming and OL could not create a small hole but Z forced his way into the end zone

The D was mostly good, but that team had 1 real deep threat and he somehow got past evert UND defender more than once.

Im hopeful these things get fixed

let’s fire the offensive coordinator who put up 28 in the first half.

How many 3 and outs and points in second half, to beat the elite school have to call a whole 60 and he hasn't yet this year.

My seats are on visitors and it was quite full, there is also a concert at the Ralph tonight so maybe that had something to do with it.

That game was never really “in doubt” but man I still leave the game with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Offense was flawless for the first 4 series of the game. Outside of that, pretty pathetic. Even the drive they finally scored again, we got bailed out by a few penalties. I could not believe the two play calls on 2nd and 1 and 3rd and 1 prior to us lining up for the FG and then got bailed out by offsides. Disappointing.

Defense bent a decent amount but for the most part did not break. 12 is really good. Shifty shifty shifty. And 1 is a burner. Almost pulled in an unreal one handed catch too.

Does not get easier next weekend going on the road to play a tough SIU team. Sure NDSU ended up winning handily but it was a tight game at the half. Their QB, DJ Williams, is another dual threat stud. We struggled against him a couple years ago when he was with Murray State. Let’s get another road W.

first quarter and a half the offense looked brilliant.

The offensive play calling was totally bizarre from the 2nd half of 2nd quarter to the start of the 4th quarter.

I thought the defense played very well overall and our offense hung them out to dry with bad series after bad series. Fruechte needs to figure some things out.

CJ didn’t miss any kicks.. even the fg that didn’t count

Still fun to beat a team that SDSU struggled against.

Another week.

Another win.

Another game thread full of comments that make it sound like we lost.

I also don't understand the play calling in the third quarter. But that final scoring drive was mainly on the ground and it pretty much sealed the win.

Anyone who thinks we are back to "Bubba Ball" is just plain wrong. Last year's team would have lost today's game by at least two touchdowns. The defense was truly that bad last year. There is room for improvement, obviously. But this year's product is many times more enjoyable to watch than the last 5 years of Bubba's tenure.

1st 28 points came so effortlessly and fast there had to be a lull from our players and OC.  I didn't expect to hold pace and put up 70.  We weathered their adjustments and finished them off.  I thought YSU was really talented at QB and a few WRs.  RBs were kind of junk though.  Our D dropped 2 picks, add them to the growing list......

Heard today from OL parent that there’s a chance that Caleb Olson could be back this year.

Is next week a must win or can the team still make the playoffs even with a loss next week? Thinking about future games against NDSU and SDSU.

We win next week and we play Indiana state and murry state thats 7 we are in, 6 might even get us in caused no loss has been awful as long as it stays that way. We get 8+ home field.

Agree, based on our SOS, 8 should guarantee home field
