 NDSU game was a 2 pt game in 4th Q with Illinois State minus 2 turnover.

I agree that Brungard should have won POY but system quarterback at NDSU. System QB's at FCS schools usually don't end up in the NFL and Payton is a different breed of QB from the "system" QB's they have had.

Reminds me of when one of the idiots(Tommy Olson?) on the KFAN morning show said that Mitch Leidner from the Gophers would have been in the NFL if he had played at NDSU. I believe he won the preposterous statement tournament that year or at least made a deep run.

You realize that the award is awarded until January 3rd right. Brungard already won MVFC player of the. Payton wont even be drafted in the first 3 rounds. Hes a great FCS qb but nothing super special.

I mean this speaks to the state of FCS football.  ISU will make it somewhat of a game, what would SE Louisiana do tomorrow in Fargo.

I think its on the NCAA to combine the FCS and G4 or whatever its called.  Make the P5 only compete amongst themselves and have a championship in some form for the FCS/G teams with bowl eligibility included if they need fillers.

Unfortunately there will always be non-P schools who think they belong with the P schools
