Tough but can't really blame him for taking the B1G opportunity.  Maintain the relationship and maybe we see him in a couple years any way.

Yep … when UND beats the goofers in 2028.

Best of luck to the young man, but absolutely no guarantees with pj fleck and that clown show.

Will he play in the Big 10 or just take up a roster spot? Time will tell.

Onward. Time for UND to find a new (and better) tight end.

This is part of recruiting the right kids. You end up losing some and have to battle for all of them.

This rings home more than ever. Keep recruiting the right kids and battling.

Time to find a new and better tight end.

Can't blame the kid:

Big10 Football

Bigger stage

More money to go around I would think

Closer to home

Ya never know how it will work out, but I certainly get it. Best of luck to him. Now, onward and upward!

I get both sides of it, but would you rather -

Compete for National Titles in FCS or Play at MN and never sniff a meaningful Bowl Game?  (I would rank 12 other Big 10 teams as a better option than MN for success)

Play 3-4 years as a major contributor or burn years riding the pines, get some playing time as a Jr. and possibly start as a Senior?

These are legitimate things to consider and personally I have children coming up that will need to navigate these scenarios, not all football related.

Fleck has done a decent job although personally I would never let my son(s) play for him.  He's too much about himself and I think this is widely known.  The "Elite" crap they through at recruits is nauseating.  MN will see Elite this year, Ohio St. and Oregon.

Couldn't agree more. I suppose it just comes down to what the kid is looking for. Maybe location plays a factor. MN is a lot closer for family than ND is.

Also agree on Fleck. I'm not the biggest fan. Not that he has done horrible, but apart from 1 year, he hasn't done a lot either. Comes across as too much of a cheap car salesman, but to each their own.

Minnesota and it really isn't a tough decision. National TV every week, more $$$$. Interesting comment about 12 other Big 10 teams about Minnesota who? The clear ones are Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, and Michigan. Other than that there isn't much difference especially when you start looking at teams records over the last 3-4 years. My biggest complaint with Fleck is at times he gets much too conservative in game playing risk averse.

If he is getting money from Minnesota, it shows you where they are at.  Money might help with a bulletproof vest to manage Dinkytown though.

Is 14 out of 18 interesting enough for you?

The last part in particular. I get the Big Ten factor but to play for Fleck? I’ll pass. I don't want Shamwow guy energy from my football coach.

3rd TE in the Gopher recruiting class, that's a heavy TE class unless someone is moving to another position.

For sure, but the allure of being a Big Ten player is potent.

Minimal risk for him.  If it doesn't work out he can go FCS and probably get some NIL money.

Disagree. National TV every week is a stretch… but I suppose BTN is “national TV”. There are certainly opportunities for more $, but it is not guaranteed. Minnesota is definitely not in the upper half of the Big 10. You sound like a goofer fan when not cheering for hockey. Fleck has definitely plateaued … above average salesman but very average football coach it appears. Wouldn’t trust his message ironically enough when it comes to being “Elite”…

I have always said this and wouldn't have lasted much more than a month with a coach like him.  I'm surprised that his schtick hasn't worn thin but I guess cycling players out every 4-5 years is an advantage.

At least we are recruiting the right guys

How can that be after an entire page of how Fleck and the Gophers suck?  I don't like Fleck or the Gophers either but it can't be both ways.

I think the implication is that this player is good enough to be on the radar of a Big Ten team.
