Was hoping we'd see Hobie tonight.

Still? TJ is playing at a level above where Hobie has been able to maintain at any point in his career. I questioned Hobie getting more starts earlier in the season but I think we can all admit Berry got it right riding TJ lately. He’s been rock solid.

Owen McLaughlin had a brief moment during Wednesday's weekly press conference.

The usually reserved UND forward began explaining what approach his team needs this weekend against Minnesota Duluth. He dropped a curse word, immediately froze after he realized his mistake, and covered his mouth. His teammates were entertained by the gaffe and wondered if it was the precursor to a big weekend.

Then, McLaughlin delivered the biggest game of his UND career.

Quote

McLaughlin became the third UND player to have a five-point game in the last decade.

Jackson Blake did it nearly a year to the date — against the same Bulldog team. Blake, who is now on the top line of the Carolina Hurricanes, had a goal and four assists against Minnesota Duluth on Feb. 23, 2024. Forward Collin Adams tallied five assists against Miami in the 2021 National Collegiate Hockey Conference quarterfinals.

Prior to that, the last to do it was Mark MacMillan on Oct. 18, 2014, at Colorado College.

Strathmann and Strinden stood out this series. Strathmann has some poor man Sanderson qualities. He's gonna be a good one before he leaves UND. Mac and EJ need to step up. With the hype both came in with they have underwhelmed to date. Good to see the 5th come back after what looked like an ugly knee injury in the first but that line gives you very little 5x5. Schmaltz is terrific on the PK though. TJ is red hot but I don't see this glass slipper fitting for another 8 game to get to Fargo. That's a big ask.

Mac needs to find some confidence and shoot the puck. It’s almost like he’s not allowed to shoot just pass. His passing does remind me of Grimaldi guys aren’t expecting it half the time. Strathmann is going to be fun to watch.EJ seems  preoccupied into being. The rough and tough enforcer just need to play his game and not worry about showing how bad he is after the whistle. WHERE HAS THIS TEAM THAT SHOWED UP THE LAST THREE GAMES BEEN ALL YEAR!!!!

Croal should have never been sitting out the way he plays. 9-19-20 are a good combo.

The late penalty by EJ was just stupid...I mean really stupid.  Don't get me wrong , tj cost himself a shutout, but EJ, in that moment, needs to just skate away..you're up by 6, last 5 of the game, gonna sweep the weekend, and trying to help your goalie get a shutout...shutup, skate back to the bench, and get ready for you're next shift.  Dude is a head case

The team has given fans hope for optimism after a surprising Saturday win at Denver.  Cue the kick to the johnson this weekend with a stunning home split.

I’ll eat some crow on this post and give the team credit for a weekend sweep, but yikes, UMD looks like a bad, bad hockey team at times.

Well yeah, I'd like him to be in the rotation especially against a bad Duluth team.  It would have been a good chance for him to get some work in.  Obviously TJ's results speak for themself the past few games so it makes sense to ride the hot goalie right now.

That was Dan Hammer’s term for the stick salute the one year when he was announcing games.  I think he was only in the booth for a year but had several gems like TCOS.

That was it!  I remember hearing that on TV now and thinking, “tell me you’ve never seen a hockey game without telling me you’ve never seen a hockey game.”

At some point it will be in a tie or one goal game and EJ will take the retaliatory penalty and end up costing UND a power play or put them down a man.  Like you said, just skate away and get ready for your next shift.

Yep or no matter who or what team scores. Even when he’s with Starman on nights we’re not on CBSSN. Guess I’d be able to tell better if he were a great pxp guy if he actually called the play going on on the ice instead of the constant player history. Just sayin’ IMO

Best come back, ever, in that situation, is a simple point to the score board....more powerful than any words

Nice win for a game where we REALLY needed a nice win. Wrap it up with a sweep tomorrow, and we almost have a respectable season!

Not if we lose the last 3 or 4 regular season games unless we still do that but then go on to win the conference tourney and win just ONE (not a big ask, Berry) NCAA tourney game.

Didn't someone just get a penalty for the scoreboard pointing thing?

Yeah a CC player. He did it to the Miami goalie in front of the ref when the goalie crosschecked/pushed another CC player who also got a penalty.
