Embarrassing. I don’t think there was even one difficult save that Close had to make. Need to win tomorrow so we’re not digging ourselves a hole. Failure to make the NC$$ tourney this year should mark the end of the Brad Berry era. Tomorrow should tell us quite a bit about this team. Close made like 7-8 really good saves. Quote
Popular Post Wilbur Posted October 21, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 21, 2023 I think you could see changes tomorrow for Albrecht and Britt. Albrecht got the bench in the 2nd and Britt didn't play a ton in the third after he did take a shot at the end of the first. We need more from Gaber. A play that defined his night was in the third with a low-high play where our d man got the puck to the net and there was a rebound and he's doing a fly by almost behind the net with a rebound where he should have stopped. It's October. A great time to be humbled and look at areas where we just didn't have it. 5 Quote
108498 Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 A few years ago UND played in a three or four overtime game at regionals. That was the last true memory I recall from a good team. Quote

Usually when you get first round draft picks they have speed and/or strength to their game and a competitive edge. Don’t think UND was totally outclassed, just need some extra effort and play a little more clean. We all said UND would need to come together, so losing to the #1 team in a game where we weren’t crisp is hardly shocking. Hopefully a better effort tomorrow. Bingo great post. MN has the greatest resources of all…the players. Quote
Username Taken Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Disappointing game offensively. Good first. Fell apart after that. Some d breakdowns to be expected. Good goaltending. MN will !@#$ the bed when it matters like all MN teams. Regular season world beaters. Figure out how to break the middle of the ice tomorrow. Quote
fightingsioux4life Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 I figured people would be pulling this out of the closet after one bump in the road: Three games is too small of a sample size to start talking about coaching changes. 1 Quote

Are you going to start with your "B1G rules the world" malarkey again? We've done very well in recruiting recently and we have some talented freshmen and sophomores on the team now. Put the Jump to Conclusions mat away, please. 1 Quote

If FS4L is calling you out on overreacting, you need to chill. No offense FS4L. That game sucked, it looked a team that just got almost a completely new team playing as 5 individual people vs a team that was in the national title game last season playing as a unit. What will define this team is what they learn from games like that and how fast they can learn it. 3 Quote

I agree it is too early to overreact, but St. Thomas was able to muster an attack against their young defense, so it is just disappointing that we were kind of a one and done on the offensive end with very little sustained pressure. Need to put one in early tomorrow and hope we can fluster them a bit, instead of the other way around. They got the snipes, so we need Gaber, Perron, Blake, etc. to show some of what we have been seeing on our end. 2 Quote

fightingsioux4life Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Let's look at recent NCAA champions: Denver: Small private school. Quinnipiac: Small private school. UM-Duluth: Public, four year university that is Division 2 in all other sports and will never be confused with a Power 5 school. BU & BC: Both small private schools. Haven't won a natty in awhile, but don't seem to have problems reeling in top talent. None of those schools are, and likely never will be, Power 5 schools. Yet, they keep reeling in top recruits and/or hanging NCAA title banners. And they have a fraction of the resources UND and other, even larger schools have. The idea that UND can't compete with these schools and is now a "plucky little mid-major" program that "backfills with overagers" to be competitive is pure baloney. It does not have to be that way. There's no reason it has to be that way. And it turns my stomach to think of us becoming one of the Alaska schools or Miami. It cannot be allowed to ever happen. Period. 1 Quote
Hayduke1 Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 I’ll watch tomorrow night. Hate the $)&&@“ rodents. Tonight I was in Loveland Colorado and watched Aaron Schneekloth’s Colorado Eagles give him his 1st AHL head coaching win against the Grand Rapids Griffins. 6 to 3 final. Could have used him to check a couple of golfers into the UND bench…. 2 Quote

If we really are this bad, we have bigger problems to deal with. And I think we all know what that means. Quote
