Will this be the week that all the FCS basement broadcasters have to talk about what is happening with the UND football team? Some will do it begrudgingly, others will move the goalposts.

I like Fruechte's play calling.  I was really disappointed when Freund left, because I felt he gave us an advantage in most games as a creative play caller.  But I think Fruechte does a better job calling the right plays at the right times.  I actually feel he is even doing a better job with less talent at the QB position than Freund ever had. I also feel it is more of a "straight-up" offense if that makes sense.  Less gimicky and trickery.  He has really been doing an excellent job IMO.

Fruechte has been an excellent addition, along with Coach Olson. Two excellent additions exemplifying why coaching matters. Defense is still suspect (same coaches on that side of the ball) but the offense is on a new improved level.

Yes. Even if you run 3 times for 1 yard each, it’s 4th & goal from the 1, and then it’s Q time.

Agreed.  I'd still like Freunde to come back as HC though, with Fruechte remaining as OC.  Red Zone offense still needs to improve... Freunde did really well converting for TD's, but Tommy also had the perfect skill set for QB play in the Red Zone, so not exavtly apples to apples comparison.

That narrative has changed my man. Fruechte could be a better head coach at this point. Freund left for a conference rival and took players with him; hate to say it, but he’s not next in line anymore and that’s a good thing.

Now that we're through the first month of the season, what are people's (revised) expectations?  Or is the sample size still too small?  To me, 8-4 should be easily attainable and I would be very disappointed with anything less.  9-3 seems pretty realistic, but double digit wins is certainly obtainable - just need to pick off one the games in which we're not favored.

Agreed.  Different if Danny went FBS as a vertical move and didn't take a starting O-line plus tried taking Jerry with him. 

That said, our schedule gets a "little" tougher here on out.

My expectations have not changed at all.  Based on prior years performance I expect them to be 6-1 at home, maybe even 7-0.  What is yet to be determined is have they learned to win on the road.  It starts this week.  A win in Fargo and the expectations will increase.  A blow out loss and its the same old same old.  If they lose, but are competitive than good things can still be in front of them.  A loss in Fargo would probably mean needed to run the table to have a special season.

4 of 5 are new starters.  Doesn’t matter who recruited them, someone had to coach them and no one expected them to perform to the level they have.
