Where on earth was 17? Said a few times it'd be nice for him to make a play. I think as well 25 and 17 is gone. I think 15 is a lean gone, and 28 is back next year. Gonna be a dog fight next year. Portal will be big.... Quote

That was probably the best D class in NCHC history. If that’s what you’re banking on, again, best of luck. Regardless of what happens, there will be huge turnover. I prefer hitting the portal for a least two proven guys over all freshmen. Quote
fightingsioux4life Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 I would rather live with the ups and downs of a young team than watch a bunch of pedestrian fifth year portal guys with no pop and no game-changing ability. 3 Quote
St Patrick Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 25 Defense 6'5" 213 lbs OTT L I have an honest question. He's tall, strong and unfairly punished by NCAA referees with penalties for being so. I have never seen the guy up close in person. Does he need another year to fill out with muscle mass or is he ready to go in that regard? Or is he still needing time to bulk up on that big frame for the next step? Quote
Oxbow6 Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 13??? My guess is he wants to come back......and Berry says "sure why not". Quote

Compare our talent to the top programs - how do you like us now? Either that or we underperformed tremendously - missing the tournament again. Or we can't develop talent. Being on the road in the NCHC playoffs doesn't exactly scream talent. And why for craps sake do we need a portal goalie for the third year in a row. Recruiting is down and we are reaping the results. 2 Quote

siouxfaninseattle Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 My 2 cents - 25 will sign - probably before the end of the weekend. I can't see 17 going anywhere. There is no NHL in his future. Unless there is something none of us know, 6 is gone, and 18 also. Probably 32. With any luck 4 and 24 will try the portal but I don't think so. Hopefully 15 and 28 stay. Quote

SIOUXELEVENS Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Berry is the easy fix guy , instead of coaching the guys you recruited let’s plug our portal or fifth year guys in instead of coaching. We do you think 6-18-21-20 are thinking right now. Instead of coaching them and helping them improve just go with the portal/5th year guys. How may teams would have 19-10-27 as top six players. Berry needs to do his job and recruit and develop players not come up with easier (for him) solutions in his line up. If he loses players to the portal don’t think that won’t be a black eye for recruiting. The goalie situation is just laughable. 4 Quote
The Sicatoka Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 I've been pondering ... Covid. Covid paused about everything for a year, including player development specifically reinforcement of fundamental concepts. Did Berry and staff not understand this and fail to compensate? I say that because many of the problems this season were fundamental miscues. It's was like the concepts on defense were foreign instead of reactionary habit. "High off the glass" should be an action as easily done as a drink from the water bottle. How many of the D could do it casually and consistently? Mentioning fundamentals, how many times did we see a forward make a blind pass into space? You don't do that. And don't get me started on the lack of speed. If you're not going fast it's either because you're slow or you have no idea what you are or should be doing. Quote

The Sicatoka Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Like I've said, the portal is a drug. a short-term high; addictive; chronically bad for you. 3 Quote
Frozen4sioux Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 The portal is the spakle that tries to hide the damage to the drywall. And UND didnt use good pink stuff that dries white eiter... UND went for the cheap $1 tub of crap you buy at Walmart at 3AM blasted drunk when you're move out inspection is at 9 AM in the morning. 2 Quote

Speaking as a former Walsh RA ... spackle? No. Toothpaste was the choice. I forget if it was Crest or Colgate that dried just the right color. And why make a trip to Wally or Menards when it's in the bathroom already. If you were doing final inspection check-out and the room smelled minty-fresh, you knew. Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 We know that Berry is a players coach, at least to some players. Someone mentioned maybe we were way to soft with all of our advantages , charter flights, catered meals etc. 2 Quote
Popular Post jk Posted March 18, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 18, 2023 I don't understand the disaffection for 13 by some. He's an ideal fourth liner. Can skate and is one of the few forwards on the team who actually hits. Because he's not big, a hit is not an automatic penalty. I'd personally like to see him back. 28 is a difficult one for me. He had moments as a junior where he was a force of nature. Then I didn't see much of that this year until last night. Give me that 28 and I'm all in. 2 3 Quote
