NCHC Postseason Semi-UND vs. Denver part 7.

UND needed to play a good team.  It's been too long.  Now they get to play another.  Win or lose, they need to get reacquainted with tight checking games.

Denver could win some games if they get in.  Really impressive.

This type of game could be really helpful in a couple weeks.

Definitely not real sharp right away and pace wasn't great. Denver had a real defensive style and got away with a ton of holding throughout the game and we couldn't really establish the cycle game much the 1st half or so of the game. Battled through it and came out with a much better 3rd period and found a way to score a goal late in the game when you needed it. Then in OT came with a big push right away and despite a couple of bad d zone turnovers end up drawing a penalty and making a nice play for the game winner just after the penalty expires.

PP looked really solid tonight. Lots of chances and really solid entries and movement.

...and coming from behind.  Didn’t they say UND was 1-5 when they don’t score first?  Need to have that come tourney time, because you probably might find yourself in that situation.

Minnesota in Loveland against Denver first round?  ;)

It would fit Mankato better, an ugly draw to extend their streak.

Tuomisto coasting across and slamming his stick in frustration is icing on the cake. Glad we didn't land that blue chip.

Did UND recruit him?

Scheel continues to play solid hockey. Came up with some big stops on the couple good chances DU had.

Completely agree. This is why the NCHC has had success in the national tourney. This was as close to an elimination game as you can get. Lots to learn from including how to stick with it.

On the flip side, the first half of the game was not our best. But Denver had zero offense and even needed our help on their goal. It is going to be hard to generate offense against a rival, that is selling out to play D, and is seeing you for the 7th time this year.

Ugly game; great win!  I'm just hoping we didn't lose Senden for the season...injuries are really starting to creep up on this team and Senden's grit is not easily replaced.

Denver deserves to be in the tournament.  We all hate them, but they do.

Said this to a couple buddies... Hard to think they aren't one of the top 16 teams, but sometimes you have to be what your record says you are.

Berry fired up in the post-game talk with TH.  Didn't want to talk 2nd period.

That was one ugly period. Can’t blame him

The way he came off the ice with his arm hanging, did not look good. I would be very surprised to see him play tomorrow.

Agreed. He was back on the bench in the third, but I don't remember him playing a shift. Kid was all over the place tonight, blowing up with big hits and energy. Would be a massive loss.

If he’s out next man up but I agree, he was a beast tonight and hopefully it isn’t serious

No doubt and we certainly have enough without him, but he's incredibly valuable. Not just his game, but huge intangibles.

You just know if there's any way he can get out on the ice he will be there.  Tape that shoulder back in place, I'm good to go Coach!
