SWSiouxMN Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 The championship games will be fun. I expect a Bengals/49ers SB. Burrow has Mahomes' number I think the Niners will run all over the Eagles. 2 Quote

The thing is the Eagles are playing very well once again since they dumped Wentz. I doubt it's a coincidence since they won their last SB with Wentz standing on the sidelines. Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Ok, if the Niners win this game with Josh Johnson at QB... Quote

Kyle Shanahan is pretty amazing with QBs but think it will have to be their defense and special teams leading the way today. Best shots offensively are getting McCaffery and Samuel loose on a screen or reverse or something. Quote

Wilbur Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 I just didn't enjoy Philadelphia sports always sucking enough earlier in my lifetime. Now they got a smug coach and they're good, and probably will be for a few years. Quote

As good of a run that Purdy had, he upside is still not as high as Trey. He will be the bakcup behind Lance and Jimmy G will be traded elsewhere. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Last week I figured SF off-season as: make Purdy QB1, let Jimmy G go, and shop/trade Lance; then, go pick up a serviceable cheap vet backup (short term, 1-2 years) and draft a QB (develop long term, 2+ years). Right now? I'd say SF's QB notions are on hold for two weeks to get some testing and evaluation on Purdy's arm. The five year plan may have changed in five seconds yesterday. Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 The easy call is Jimmy G: Let him walk. Let him go reunite with McDaniels in Vegas or Salah in New York. The emergence of Purdy was his worst case scenario for him. It made him expendable and the Niners aren't going to give him a big contract if they know at least one of their QB can be at least him at a fraction of the cost. Jimmy will be fine at his new location doing what he usually does: Win a lot of games but always leaving you wanting more. He will always wonder what if he connected on that deep pass that would have won SF the Super Bowl. He would have been a made man and a Niner lifer. The trickier call is the Purdy/Lance dynamic: What Purdy did was amazing for the last pick of the draft, but is he the 2nd coming of Tom Brady?.. or is he SF version of Case Keenum, never to duplicate it again? Trey still has a high ceiling but 3 years without FB is a lot. Eventually, SF needs to know what they have in him. Plus, there is no way they will get back what they gave up to get him. The last thing they can really do is trade him and then he lives up to expectations elsewhere. Its tricky but it is one that SF needs to get right. The NFC isnt like the AFC with stacked QBs, tell me the team outside of Philly does the Niners need to worry about? If they get it right, its probably multiple super bowl appearance and maybe a title or two. If they get it wrong, the house gets cleaned. Quote

Sorry, if you have been chriping and you don't back it up... otherside has the green light to throw it back at them. Free bulletin board material for KC all last week and they ran with it... dumb, dumb, dumb. Quote
