geaux_sioux
Moral of the story is there is a huge revenue opportunity with bball. We need to invest more and raise our program up. Trouble is our seating capacity is limited so low.

But the hockey-only crowd will accuse you of "trashing our #1 sport". (sarcasm)

That is the best I have ever witnessed from UND men's basketball. Every few years may actually be a little generous but winning roughly 65% of your games isn't competing for championships year in and year out. In reality I am a very casual observer of the program but my biggest complaint about Jones is his lack of recruiting and keeping quality and effective big men. At the same time Hooker and Crandall have been some of the most fun players to watch at UND, at least coming from my limited observation. northernraider
It seems basketball has decent facilities to attract recruits and win battles against peer schools and the occasional P5 drop down. Question is why are we so far behind in getting and keeping 3* recruits.
nodak651
I think basketball is doing fine, recruiting wise. The problem is losing guys early. It would be real great to still have a guy like Cashman on the team. If we kept Geno and had a big guy in Cashman next year, plus Jal coming in, we would be looking at making a run next spring. Geno leaving early could have happened anywhere, though, with the opportunities that he had. Same thing happened at South Dakota with Mooney. We can get up to 3,800 by doubling the height of the risers. Capacity and cost wise that isn't too bad.

nodak651
The dream - something like Penn State's Roar Zone. Add permanent seating to the ceiling and add on to the North end of the Betty for more concourse space and locker room/office space or amenities - like hockey's hang out and kitchen area.. the teams that play in the Betty could share it. TheFlop
The Betty is more than sufficient as is. The priority is to fix the coaching situation and put a decent product on the court. If UND turns into annual contenders and starts having sell-outs year after year then evaluate expanding the seating.

A few years back Jones assembled what I feel was the most talented Sioux Basketball Team ever. He decided that the best offense was "streetball" and the go to play was to have his best player and ballhog to go 1 on 4, pivot 3 or 4 times and put up an off balance shot, get a foul, or lose the ball. The guy can't game coach for squat.

What if Jaron Nash didn't get screwed over by the NCAA? What if Alonzo kept his grades straight? What if Webb and Schuler had not broken down in the BSC tournament? A few breaks and UND would have gone back-to-back NCAAs and UND would have 3 banners instead of 1

Will be interesting to see how much they use him with a pretty good team already. If he wants to win a National Championship, this is definitely his best route given the other choices he had. nodak651
Have there been any scheduling updates for next year? Most schools have a few games that have leaked out by now. Such as Montana playing NDSU at home and SDSU away.
sioux24/7
With Geno gone, we now have an open scholarship correct? I saw that Jamil Jackson is transferring from SUU. Someone we had interest in coming out of high school.
