I would not put a head coach of a D1 athletic program in terms of your typical "subordinate".  I think that lumping these 2 into the same bucket as the greeters and stockers at Wal-Mart is a pretty big generalization.

No, not your typical subordinate, but a subordinate nonetheless.  As Rick Pitino and Roy Williams attest, sometimes the last people you want to be pulling the strings are some coaches.

Miller and Schlossman have no clue about AD moves.  They have been asking for AD reviews, as if Kennedy forced Faison out.  Faison is 67, and more likely stayed on for a couple years as a favor to help Kennedy.  Think Morton needed more time at Michigan St before he moves over.

They are still running around thinking Hogan Assessments will be used to can people.  Good grief. It's a tool that a new AD can use to get grounded with each coaches areas of strengths and weaknesses.

How many connections within the athletic department do you have?

I think from what the university has gone through from nickname changes, to conference moves, budget problems (thanks Bismarck), cutting sports, in the end I think Faison did the best job he could while dealt with an unfriendly hand. He got us into leagues that helps with travel, helped with funding for an IPF. I think this school is going to come out ahead in the long run.

Faison's track record shows he's a good administrator.
If he has a weakness it's that he's not great at kissing hands and shaking babies; he's not the gladhander the %gobc and others 'need'.

However, in today's world, being a schmoozer is a key job function of the AD.

You don’t need to be a kiss ass but any level of charisma would be a plus

Exactly.  Just a friendly "hi" and a handshake would be great, or at least a smile.

BF has the personality of the prep nurse getting some guy's junk ready for a vasectomy.

There’s a decade worth of student-athletes who had no interaction with their AD. None. He didnt know their names or accomplishments. Academic or athletic. That doesn’t go unnoticed by those kids.

Faison was unapproachable and took no initiative toward his athletes, alums, and fans alike. He showed no fire and enthusiasm towards his university. Brian was a non-factor in fundraising. In fact he was a detriment.

Did he help grow the fan base with his outgoing personality? Engaging fans at games, meeting the average joe knowing there’s a bigger picture? Fostering those relationships that grow into bigger and better things? He did none of that and to argue otherwise is pure ignorance.

This fine university will be much much better off without him.

I can't say I disagree with any of this. UND athletics (namely football and basketball) can potentially get way better pending the new hire.

This should be interesting. Also very curious that everything was done orally to avoid open records requests. Very cheeky.

If you wanted to get rid of somebody this is the perfect way to do it. Hire a hatchet man.  Have everything done orally so there is no paper trail, no accountability and no liability.

They have an agreement that he will retire and be paid to do so--hence the consultant gig for a year after retiring.

Apparently you had some experience with that issue with Ruley and her lover so just extending that scenario to UND is very convenient.

Like you???

Brian retired, (and your blabbing and trolling about get rid of somebody), he probably even stayed longer (he's 67) than someone normally would have to help with a better transition for the new AD.
