KirkEisenbeis Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 It's (past) time to end the "Husky women" chant at SCSU games. I'll admit, it is a clever play on words invoking the enemy's nickname, but that's where any intelligence ends. Bringing women's looks into things is (rightfully) headed way out of style and it's wrong for the society we claim to live in. As men, we can do better.Your integrity is reflected when you do or don't participate. Even if you don't refrain for the SCSU-fan women and young girls, do it for your sisters standing next to you, who hear your message loud and clear.BACKGROUND"Husky women!" has been chanted by some UND fans for at least 15 years, largely at the SCSU cheer/dance team. 4 8 Quote

dagies Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I agree with KirkEisenbeis. I just think that kind of a cheer can be a poor reflection on the fanbase. 1 1 Quote

808287 Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Ever since attending an NCAA tournament game in Madison where the crowd in front of us chanted "F-you old people" to try and get us (seated behind them) to stop chanting "Let's Go Sioux", I have taken up a new view of college hockey fan chanting. I am ready to return to "Who's she? She sucks $#!t." Intimidating chants are just part of the college game. I do not, however, tolerate the drunken sot wearing ANY teams colors who can't allow others to enjoy the game. Toss that idiot out on his ear. Quote
petey23 Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Not too many Husky Women in this group......although it might be fairly obvious which girl's dad bought the uniforms. Quote
Cratter Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 That's why its Husky Women and not Husky Woman. Don't want to single anybody out and make them feel bad. Quote

There were a couple seasons where their squad was outstanding and then a couple seasons where it was like WTF happened? Look pretty solid now though. Edited November 21, 2015 by petey23 Quote
siouxjoy Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 BACKGROUND"Husky women!" has been chanted by some UND fans for at least 15 years, largely at the SCSU cheer/dance team.Huh. And here I always thought those chants were directed to the guys playing hockey for SCSU. I do agree with you, though. Quote
KirkEisenbeis Posted November 22, 2015 Author Posted November 22, 2015 I'm not saying, "be nice to them." Treating (or insulting) women based on performance/merit rather than looks starts only when men stand up for it. 1 2 Quote

As far as I remember the SCSU cheer team has never been at the Ralph. I believe it has been directed at their team but that is just my opinion. 1 Quote
Big A HG Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Does this offend female SCSU fans, or does it offend you? Also, I'm offended that you believe that SCSU women can't stand up for themselves. I believe that all people are created equal and SCSU women are equally able to defend themselves in this matter. You need to stop being anti-women's rights. 4 Quote

Popular Post WiSioux Posted November 22, 2015 Popular Post Posted November 22, 2015 As a female, I think this conversation is dumb. Get a thicker skin if a hockey chant offends you. 13 Quote
90siouxfan Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Maybe it is totally a coinkydink, but I noticed the St Cloud production only seemed to highlight UND female fans of the "husky" variety, it made me think of the cheer/taunt before I saw this thread. Hmmm... Quote
zipperlip Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 You people are not in high school anymore. And take a good look at UND fandom, cuz it ain't pretty! 2 7 Quote
