bigskyvikes Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 This has been requested over the past week or so, and it's definitely one of my top Gopher - Sioux games. So watch it while it's still up, but remember the gophers go even with us in the NCAA playoffs. (Nonetheless this game is priceless) I have watched this at least four times this week and love it more each time! But being there was unforgettable... Quote
Redneksioux Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Wow Egf can claim him as far as I'm concerned;) grand forks has been a better place since he left! Quote

Slap Shot Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Obviously I'd be partial to this one, but for the amount of total talent and level of play on the ice that night, the 2004 WCHA Final Five was spectacular: Quote

Goon Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 No idea but I played for the jr Sioux when I was in middle school. Isn't that the kid from Int'l Falls? Quote
siouxnami Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Anyone able to create a video from the famous 98-99 game where Woog called a timeout to quiet the crowd and it backfired and the Sioux had a huge comeback at the old Ralph? Quote
scpa0305 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 actually the potulny name is from grafton area. I'm family friends with them. His dad did play bball out there. Quote
sagard Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I'm reading in a lot of places that UND doesn't have the offensive firepower that Minnesota has, Minnesota is the heavy favorite, and one stat that is often cited is UND's goal-per-game over this season. I think a more telling stat is goals-per-game since December, which was about when this team started to get healthy. Throwing out the highest individual game goal total (9 against Miami) and lowest (0 against Denver) UND has averaged 3.2 goals-per-game over 25 games. In that same time period, again throwing out the highest (7 against RMU) and lowest (1 against Wisco) single game goal totals, the Gophers are averaging 3.09 goals-per-game over 23 games. Even more important than goals-per-game, is goal differential. Since December, not counting the highest and lowest single games, UND is averaging 1.92 goals against, while Minnesota is allowing 1.83 goals per game. In that time span UM played a combined 8 games against Michigan State and Penn State, the 6th and 7th lowest scoring college hockey teams in the country. UND played 5 games against CC, the 4th lowest scoring team in the country. UND goal differential since December: 3.2 - 1.92 = 1.28 UM goal differential since December: 3.09 - 1.83 = 1.26 I don't see a heavy favorite there at all. To me it looks like two very evenly matched teams. This Gopher team isn't your typical Gopher team. Goals at times are very hard to come by. This team has been anchored by Wilcox. Everyone paying any attention knows this will be a hard fought game amongst equals. The Big Ten was historically bad in my opinion. UW and Michigan played themselves out of contention very early and every time it looked like UW would get close, Wilcox slammed the door. First team to get to two will win this. Quote

hrkac Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I have watched this at least four times this week and love it more each time! But being there was unforgettable... USA Hockey and I had grown weary of the goofer fans around us after going down a few goals, so we stood at the top of the rail on one end of the rink. also, it was easier to get a beer from there. As the comeback was starting, Dave Christian happened to be right outside that section at a booth. As the Sioux started to roll, Dave stood and watched the 2nd and 3rd with us exchanging high-fives every goal! awesome experience to say the least. also, we told him more than once that Brock needed to come back one more season.
