More good news for the south end of Grand Forks, ND

Quote

“The Washington corridor is really buzzing,” said Russel Crary, sales manager for Crary Real Estate.

Development along the corridor has been mostly between 36th Avenue and 47th Avenue, according toRyan Brooks, Grand Forks city planner. In addition to the new McDonald’s and Starbucks locations, the city’s map of planning projects shows five approved commercial projects along that section of South Washington Street. As of July 1, the project plan for the new Starbucks is under review.

Crary Real Estate finalized the sale of the land to McDonald’s on June 18, signing the deed to the land over to the fast food chain, according to Crary. The new location, located on the northwest corner of the 40th Avenue intersection, will be the fourth McDonald's in Grand Forks.

I have flown the Jamestown-DL-DEN route and it's great. Only downside is no bar at the Jamestown airport. TSA is fast tho

I've only flown into Jamestown once. The bags were waiting by the door by the time we deplaned lol

Interesting.  Could last nearly a year - brings with it 800 additional airmen.

"He said the base is making arrangements to house airmen in area hotels and apartments as well as putting up temporary hangars for winter maintenance on some plans and making “modest upgrades” to some base offices."

Bummer with the timing of tearing down the old dorms.

This caught my eye:

Grand Forks AFB has also been selected for a $246 million upgrade to its existing facilities to house and maintain fifth-generation fighter jets like the F-22 and F-35.

While the 319th does not fly combat aircraft, the air base is set to house aircraft evacuated from other air bases during extreme weather events, particularly from hurricane-prone areas on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, so those units can continue to operate.

...

When those facilities aren’t being used for evacuation, the air base will support long-range combat training exercises called Agile Combat Employment.

So basically its taxpayer money just pissed directly into the wind to appease the global climate change grift.

The USAF has always had an alternate base plan.
You move the assets away from weather that may impede flight operations.

The former GFAFB B-52s and B-1s would "fly south" during blizzards.

:silly: seems somewhat relevant...

Palmer Luckey, VR entrepreneur, defense contractor, will be Sen. Kevin Cramer's guest at UAS expo

GRAND FORKS – A tech billionaire who created the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset before founding a defense company will be Sen. Kevin Cramer’s invited guest at the 2024 Unmanned Aircraft Systems Expo in Grand Forks on Oct. 8-9.

WOW!  It's great to hear they will be able to get this guy to Grand Forks.  Really interesting dude.  If you don't know who he is, this is an interesting piece on him. Seriously, worth watching this for entertainment value alone.

talked to a guy at b&barley...said the taproom next door is still planning on being a taproom (unlike the rumor that they were scrapping that in favor of straight microbrew)...

he did say it was true that that guy and city inspectors are butting heads about all sorts of codes and whatnot

walked by last night and there was a private event going on and people were walking around....

mike's pizza should try to make a move on rhombus guys opera house location...(just a matter of time before egf restaurant row is down to blue moose and maybe bernies)

but from what i heard winjum and co don't wanna give up the building but are asking waaaaaaaay too much to rent/lease.
