tnt
Northern Michigan getting beat again by Bowling Green 3-1 in the third. I believe they are directly behind us in the pairwise and wouldn't have a chance to improve on that position. Also, Merrimack, who also is behind us, plays Maine who is a few slots ahead of us next week, so one of them will lose ground. Sioux need to take care of business and hope for a few other scenarios to move up in the pairwise.

tnt
Next weekends CCHA matchups are Bowling Green at Ferris State, Michigan State at Miami, Lake Superior at Western Michigan, and Notre Dame at Michigan. I would hope that Ferris State, Lake Superior, and Michigan wins, as long as Lake Superior doesn't win the whole CCHA tourney. The Michigan State / Miami matchup is a tossup who to route for since both are ahead of us. That is based strictly on the pairwise as it stands now. Not sure what the records are of those teams with TUC. Is there somewhere that gives current records of teams that are currently considered a TUC? as15
If you go to uscho.com PWR tab, the only teams listed are TUC's, it also has each of those teams records vs other TUC's as well.

GFG
Well, it seems that the talk about DU making schedule arrangements with UMN and UW are HIGHLY likely to be true, this according to Chuck Schwartz who said in this article he talked with the guy from "Let's Go DU!" about his source. Schwartz said that he won't say the source but that it's very reliable. He also says it does seem like UND and UW will keep their games as long as UND retires the nickname. http://www.buckys5thquarter.com/2012/3/7/2852722/hockey-scheduling-notes

Don Lucia does not want to play UND, and the fact that he is making scheduling agreements left and right proves the point. Before it was because of his son playing for Notre Dame, but don't think he has a son playing for Denver. On the positive side, if Minnesota's problems with Denver are any indication, the NCHC could benefit from an agreement in the Pairwise. tnt
UND and UMN were in talks for an agreement until they resumed use of the nickname. Really, but when they didn't have the nickname they were working deals with other schools but couldn't come up with one with a rival? Must not have been working too hard at it since Wisconsin and UND had already struck a deal.
Blackheart
Gofs were mad when UND wouldn't agree to all their conditions...All games would be played at Mary-oochi, Gofers skate 4 forwards and 3 defenseman each shift, Sioux goals are subject to do-overs, Gofer goals count as 3, minor penalties against the Sioux are 8 minutes, and members of Goldy's Club will be allowed to sit on the Sioux bench during games. Lucia has said from day one that he would like to keep the rivalry going with UND so Im not sure what you're talking about. But there are four in state programs who want to play the Gophers of course, and Im sure programs like DU and CC would like to keep the series going as well. There simply is not enough games to make everyone happy.

You can talk all you want, but I don't see games scheduled like I do with Notre Dame, and now it appears Denver.

You dont think the four other programs in the state want to play the Gophers every year? We know UND does and Denver is currently in talks with us to continue playing, so yes most everyone in the league DOES want to play the U. Not sure what's so laughable about that opinion but ok. squirtcoach
The sieve is partly correct. While it is true the 4 Minnesota teams want to 'play' the gophers, the fighting Sioux want to kick the gophers ass. A big difference. Hence tDon's difficulties in scheduling. The difficulty in scheduling UND right now is your stupid nickname, not Don Lucia. Why should Lucia even explore playing games with UND when the U has made it clear they will not play UND until the name is gone?
siouxkid12
Oh my god Gophersieve don't even get me started on the goofers and their lame schedules. This year is prime example. The Gophers are 7th in the pairwise, 7TH! If you win the WCHA regular season title you should not be that low, the team who finished 2nd in the WCHA is 2nd in the PWR. Maybe if the Gophers scheduled some teams that were actually good instead of padding their record they wouldn't be so low.
squirtcoach
Fighting Sioux is not a stupid nickname. Calling it stupid is hostile and abusive. By anyone's standards. Actions and words. From tDon and gopher fans. Indefensible.

The reason why the Gophers are 7th in the pairwise isn't because they scheduled easy non conference teams. Its because they lost these games to good teams. And two years ago Vermont was a Frozen Four team. You can't predict how good a team will be when scheduling in advance. The Gopher scheduled one patsy the entire year, Sacred Heart. Northeastern is no slouch either. Air Force, Harvard, and Clarkson aren't exactly national powers either. The only three tough NC games the Sioux had were 2 vs. Maine and one against BC. Pretty comparable to the Gophers' road series at Michigan State and one against Notre Dame.

Standing at 19-16-3 the fact they're still somewhat rated in the pairwise just screams what is wrong with that metric and hockey East media BS. Calling them a decent team, is almost somewhat irrelevant now. Calling Northeastern a decent team, are you kidding me? Year and year out, the Sioux look to schedule the best teams out East if both teams can aligned with their pre-planned schedules for the year. The Gophers always and will continue to play a soft schedule. Have fun beating up on Penn State in the future, what a great "potential powerhouse team" ,right?
