The Sicatoka Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 As far as buying out Muss, I could probably tell the crowd at a UND Hockey game that night's 50/50 raffle was to buy him out and take care of it.
zonadub Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I ask because it seems many on here have turned their back on the team because they hate the coach. I've had numerous conversations with people at UND, plus with others who have a long history with the program, knowledge of the Big Sky and experience in coaching college football since we joined the Big Sky. Since that time, the prevailing view of these people has been it will take at least until year 4 or 5 in the Big Sky for our program to get the point where we are a legitimate playoff team, year in and year out. The consenus of these people, whose opinions I value, feels there is zero chance Coach Mussman is fired. We think the UND Athletic Dept is going to stay the course, because it's the right thing to do and because firing a coach almost always sets a program back. This post still haunts the thread. If the people green_sioux is talking about are as well connected as he makes it sound, this board may implode next week. Really curious about what is going on behind those closed doors.
fightingsioux4life Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Muss has one year left. This is the FCS, money doesn't grow on trees. Muss will finish out his contract. Pure wishful thinking. Enjoy the next 48 hours. After that, this program gets a fresh start. Much to your chagrin.

I won't implode. It'll be pretty tough to care though. If the mussman era has a theme song its build me buttercup. I'm not gonna get builtup to be let down again. I let it affect my mood too many Saturdays this year. I'll just kinda be over und football for a while. Fool meonce....
zonadub Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 can anything be read into Faison and Kelly both being in Davis and neither one of them being in Grand Forks for the hockey series?

This makes a buyout cheaper in the long run than maintaining the status quo. The vision of a sub 6,000 Potato Bowl attendance figure should make Faison and Kelley think twice about keeping Mussman on board.
The Sicatoka Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Somebody please tell me that when the plane lands in GF later that Muss is playing "Lane Kiffin" to Faison's "Pat Hayden". UND 2.0 1
geaux_sioux Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 can anything be read into Faison and Kelly both being in Davis and neither one of them being in Grand Forks for the hockey series? Because football is better than hockey? 1
The Sicatoka Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 A weekend to meet with Northern California alumni would be a reasonable guess, as would a final in-person evaluation of their football product's status.
The Sicatoka Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/278366/ Faison with a no comment, not a vote of confidence statement. Mussman's statements seemed resigned to the impending obvious. Tock. UND 2.0
Shawn-O Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 < 36 hours to go...better times ahead peeps
WeAreNorthDakota Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Wayne Nelson tweeted a picture of Muss leaving the field tonight. His head was buried in his hand. I think he's done and I think he knows it. I know Faison makes every trip with the football team but the fact that Kelly made the trip also makes me hope that there was a lot of discussion about what needs to be done on Monday.
JohnboyND7 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 "As seniors, our legacy here is the building blocks. No, we didn't get all the wins we could have. But I think we instilled a dynamic in this team that we can build on."
mg2009 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 can anything be read into Faison and Kelly both being in Davis and neither one of them being in Grand Forks for the hockey series? it was the last game of the season
Oxbow6 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I talked to someone within the AD at the hockey game last night...he said he "wouldn't want to be in Muss's shoes right now"! Said issues are no organization and little preparation and discipline within the FB program. Did say Muss was a "great guy" though...for what that's worth.
Oxbow6 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 The next 48-72 hours will say more about the overall leadership of the AD and Faison than anything. Unfortunately this might not be just a Muss problem... 1
Oxbow6 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Hardin..."We never came together as a team". Think any player has said those words under Bohl's leadership? Just saying...
Hawkster Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 By noon tomorrow it should all be over, either Mussman is fired or UND football is sunk for next year. I just hope Faison doesn't rush out and just hire someone for the sake of getting a warm body in the position. If it takes until the second week of January so be it. This is going to be a long term project and we'll only get one shot at doing it right. And another thing, get rid of the coordinators too. It's time to start completely over with a blank sheet of paper. If we have a coach in 2 weeks, it means Faison promoted from within. We need someone who has HC D1 experience. Anything less will just be rolling the dice.
darell1976 Posted November 17, 2013 Author Posted November 17, 2013 When (not if) Muss is fired, should he retained as as a position coach or coordinator, or just let him be gone from the program altogether.
Hawkster Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 When (not if) Muss is fired, should he retained as as a position coach or coordinator, or just let him be gone from the program altogether. Gone altogether. I doubt that it ever works to demote someone and expect good results. 1
NDSIOUXFAN1 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Typically a new head coach will want to bring in his own staff.

Wilbur Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 If the Patriarch of Positivity is talking like this, then you know things are bad. This made me laugh....haha. If I'm calling for your dismissal it probably has to be pretty bad. 1
