brianvf
Blurb on Zellers and his great start to the season: Quote Future player spotlight: Will Zellers, Shattuck-St. Mary's UND forward commit Will Zellers is off to an excellent start at Shattuck-St. Mary's. Zellers has scored 21 goals in 20 games to open the season, leading the prep school in goals and points (38). The 5-foot-10 forward from Maple Grove, Minn., is expected to play next season in the United States Hockey League before coming to campus. Averaging over a goal per game and almost 2 points per game so far. Will be interesting to see how well he does in the USHL next year before coming to UND.
Kevin G
Sacha Boisvert tagged as a "Stock Rising" in EP's USHL Stock Watch. Quote Sacha Boisvert, C, Muskegon Lumberjacks (2024) NCAA commitment: North Dakota Sacha Boisvert has been turning heads early with 13 points through his first 12 games. He’s a cerebral player who understands his limitations and leverages his strengths. A deft playmaker, Boisvert is exceptional at making passes through defensive layers off the rush. He’s got some deception with the puck, separating his upper and lower body to manipulate sticks and feet to open up ice. Boisvert is smart defensively too; he’s got a high workrate in his own end and uses his long reach to clog up passing lanes and create transition offense. The biggest question for his projection is his skating. Boisvert’s height contributes to a high stance and a shallow stride. He’s clunky on turns and quick cuts, creating little to no separation for himself. That said, Boisvert doesn’t try to be something he’s not. He distributes under duress and finds open ice for himself to operate off the rush when it’s there. He’ll be an interesting player to keep an eye for the remainder of the season.

Whatever happened to that guy? I haven't seen anything from him in ages, and his old Twitter account seems relatively dormant. I talked to one of the guys that wrote for that site, and after it was shuttered, he said Chris kind of disappeared. He doesn't post on social media, either. I would say someone get that guy some nice UND gear, but with NCAA rules wouldn't want someone to actually do that. Anyway, plenty of swag to come when he gets here. Hopefully he is part of a group that gets Championship swag as well.

The human brain doesn't stop developing until your mid to late 20's, so I think that is a better dividing line between kid and adult. The legal definitions we put in place are not always 100% accurate. And FWIW, he will be able to buy us a beer, but we can't buy HIM a beer, thanks to the NCAA.

brianvf
Quote This can be an interesting time on the recruiting front. Teams are allowed to begin signing high school seniors to National Letters of Intent. Sometimes, this is when you'll see players opt not to sign and de-commit. It has happened with one high-profile player already — Wisconsin defenseman commit Will Skahan, a potential first-round draft pick, re-opened his recruitment. UND has sent out NLIs for some players to sign (an NLI is good for two years, so those who signed last year are not doing so again). Some teams have been publicly announced their player signings. UND recruits who have signed so far include Sacha Boisvert, Mac Swanson, Cody Croal and Warroad's Carson Pilgrim. More are expected to roll in.
