siouxforce19
I say...when they get back... they should get to work right away on their powerplay, among other things. There was a better effort today, but just a little short. Clearly some things to work on.
Sioux87
Ah, another year of Sioux hockey and another year of bus jumpers. This board has become as predictable as a Sarah Palin rally. Not me, things will be all right!!! I will wear green and white until my end!!!

jimdahl
Ah, another year of Sioux hockey and another year of bus jumpers. This board has become as predictable as a Sarah Palin rally. The inevitable post-loss post from a fan who's indignant that others dare criticize a losing performance has indeed become quite predictable Seriously, though, I don't see anyone getting ready to return their season tickets quite yet. Good effort by the Sioux. Looking forward to the start of conference play at the always tough to visit Mankato.
sioux rube
Yes, I'd say so. I can't remember the last time UND was 0-2 to start a season. The last UND team to start 0-2 was the '94-95 squad in Blais' first year. That team also happened to be the only UND team to start 0-

burd
Well, we've seen the Sioux begin recent seasons by winning two at Maine and a lopsided win against Mich State only to follow up with poor first halves. Maybe this signifies a change. Not taking bets, though.
Siouxmama
I'm going to start packing my suitcase for the series in Mankato. Not a single item of purple clothing is going in it. I'm hoping the boys have a good week of practice and are ready to face the Mav's.
fightingsioux4life
Which is a sign the team is playing well. Of course that means nothing if they can't put the puck in the net. There are 3 things you can count on in life 1. Death 2. Taxes 3. Sioux running into hot goalies I don't think it's a coincidence anymore after 5 years. This has become a tired old excuse for this program. What did this "hot" goalie do before today? Wasn't his save percentage in the .800 range? I don't think he's the second coming of Ed Belfour. I'll bet anyone on this forum that he'll get lit up in his next start or at least go back into his previous form. There are much better goaltenders in our league than this, so we better learn how to put the puck into the net. Nobody else ever has this problem except us. And no one else's hometown media harps on it as much as the Grand Forks media (and yes Brad Schlossman, that means you). This team should drop out of the national rankings entirely until their record is above .500 again. And even once that happens, they shouldn't be in the Top 10 until they've proven they can beat somebody. It's very early and there is a lot of young talent on this team, but this cannot be allowed to continue. Losing to the Terriers is not all that bad, losing to a program that has never won anything is just not acceptable. The games in Mankato are always tough and we had better pull this together or we'll be looking at an 0-4 start and an 0-2 start in the league. DAR
And that is not out of the realm of possibility! The Mavs at their barn is going to be tough. What a fuc*ing joke...how in the hell do you lose to Umass. It is going to be a long year...mark my words. Duncan is worthless without Oshie. yzerman19
stat watchers will talk about the SOG, but anyone who watched this game live or on TV knows that hte sioux did not dominate play the way that shot number looks. The Sioux rarely had decent shots with any legitimate chance at scoring. I'm not jumping, but I'm not a cheerleader either. I call it like I see it, and this was a poor showing. yzerman19
How do you blame Duncs for this weekend? He actually looked ok. I blame Hak for poor preparation. These guys can all play hockey; you have to play as a unit, as a team in order to win.

Duncan is worthless without Oshie. Who cares about the Icebreaker tourney. I'm more worried about WCHA wins! Give it time and they'll come around. Remember how everyone (including me) gave up on the sioux 2004-2005 through the halfway point and they came on strong all the way up to the championship game. Where they eventually lost to DU. It's too early to give up now! I really don't give a s*it about this weekend. Who said it was going to be easy without a for sure goaltender? Give it time though! Duncan is worthless without Oshie. by UMass scoring more points than you. Seriously, i don't see the point of freaking out right now. The regular season is two games old....so we aren't starting out too fast....oh well....the time to freak out is January to March, not October! I say good, fast paced practices this week and we turn it around next weekend. As for Duncs being worthless without Osh and Toews, you guys do remember Duncs being the only one scoring when Osh and Toews were hurt right? He will be fine, the only difference is the focus is on him now and not them....he can't fly under the radar anymore.
USA Hockey
They played sloppy this weekend. With the exception of the third period today, not much effort and poor passing. It won't get easier though. Mankato was a pretty good team last year and brings back five of their six top scorers and their goaltender. Not unreasonable to think that they could get swept at Mankato and CC and split with UW at home. I don't think that will happen, but if they don't get at least a split next weekend... Siouxtimestwo
Ah, another year of Sioux hockey and another year of bus jumpers. This board has become as predictable as a Sarah Palin rally. How has anyone jumped off the bus by criticizing a team that went 0-2 to start the season, including a loss to a bottom feeding UMass team that UND should have been motivated to destroy after the poor showing Friday? You must be a Bush supporter if your standards are that low.
yababy8
the Sioux skated fast and hard and had no idea, no plan, no clue of what to do with it. They had no creativity. They have no creativilty. They didn't last year either but last year they were a well practiced technically sound squad that played nice defence with the exception of Genoway and LaPoint. I said it last year and I'll say it again. LaPoint does not have the skating skill to do well in D1 hockey. Also, before anyone busts me for my Genoway comment, get a copy of last years semifinal game and see how many goals Genoway made the big error to allow a bad play that directly allowed the shot. Genoway is a superb athlete and a top of the line player, but he does not have the experience to defend against elite forwards in D1 Hockey. I really like Genoway but ya gotta accept what you see on the ice. He is raw at defensive technique and it shows against highly skilled well coached forward lines. Oh and a couple more harsh realities: Kozak doesn't do anything good with the puck except shot it. Any time he is not taking a shot he is a liability on the ice. Duncan is such a week defender that since the end of the 06-07 season teams have been putting thier top line against ours and maintaining possesion in their offensive zone about 75% of the time Dunk is on the ice. If we can't maintain the Zone (Hak style) then we sure as heck can't continue to play dump and run hockey. We have to get creative on rushes and I swear the Collective Sioux coaching staff has no clue at all about teaching that.

Our favorite hockey team in the whole world has just gotten off to an 0-2 start to the 08-09 campaign and that is what we should focus on. Bring on the Mavericks!
