Chewey Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Long Beach State is "The Beach". I'm kind of liking "Tundra". It fits the North Dakota image -- Vast. Imposing. Unsurvivable. No thanks. Having a description of a landscape as a nickname is almost as bad as having some inane weather phenomenon.

Mamba Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Brought to you by the good folks at Toyota. No thanks. Having a description of a landscape as a nickname is almost as bad as having some inane weather phenomenon. Not to mention there actually isn't any "Tundra" geography within about 1000 miles. Let's be something we are, not something of popular notion. Until that time, let's be NORTH DAKOTA. 2

Oxbow6 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Except for that "frozen tundra of Lambeau" ... Oxbow can explain. Ummmmmmmmmm...I got nothing. I have been there in January when the "grass" was painted to look green though.
PhillySioux Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Just watched Erie and Ottawa on NHL network. UND 83s?
MafiaMan Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Just watched Erie and Ottawa on NHL network. UND 83s? Not a fan of number nicknames...but the Philadelphia 76'ers was pure genius.
The Sicatoka Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 The 49ers isn't bad ... especially when they called their defensive front the gold rush.
darell1976 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 89er's. ND became a state in 1889. But UND became a school in 1883. Go 83er's!!
darell1976 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Agree, but...Niners-Threeers? Sounds dumb that's why it shouldn't be picked
NoiseInsideMyHead Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 But UND became a school in 1883. Go 83er's!! Are we absolutely sure the school wasn't around 14 years earlier? Like maybe just a building or a classroom or something?
Oxbow6 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 GF is close to the lakes country of MN. How bout we compromise w gfhockey and go with "Big Docks"?
GeauxSioux Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 I was talking archery with one of the guys that I work with and he mentioned Lars Andersen, which is pretty cool Scandinavian name. Pretty cool video. Archery (arrows) are making a comeback in movies/TV. Hunger Games, Brave, Game of Thrones, Avatar, Avengers, Green Arrow, Lord of the Rings, etc.. University of North Dakota Arrows. 1
The Sicatoka Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 The ultimate archery trick is at 5:30 of this Lars Andersen video.
GeauxSioux Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 I just received an email from the Target Center for the Frozen Faceoff. How about this one..... "UND Arrows hit Target Center for Frozen Faceoff"
