Not sure what’s missing, but overreacting isn’t the cure. I’m all about shots, give me SOG, work the game to get SOG ... and they have. But I remember the Manitoba game was much the same. While we did win by one goal, shots were 55 to 9, which seemed crazy. Pretty sure Berry said early on as head coach, we’re going to get pucks to the net, which I applauded. We outshoot most every opponent.

When is/was the auction?

Hak is going to be just fine. I hope he pauses to relax a bit before he gets back into the game, and it doesn’t have to be the NHL ... at least not right away.

Love those black sweaters. Too bad they are an “away” jersey. Often with limited home-fan TV coverage. And they only surface when we think it’s all uphill, which means it’s a critical contest (but then which ones aren’t?). What is our black sweater record now? I don’t know. Nevertheless Denver remains the team to beat, we get another chance at The Ralph in late January. In the meantime ... Keep on keeping on. Go Sioux!

UNO might consider Cary Eades as next head coach. He left quickly & w/out ceremony from UND for reasons never officially disclosed. He's not been head coach at the college level but he has had tremendous success wherever he has been head coach. "Now that the dust has settled ..."? UND, The Feckin' Hawks & their New York logo are just ignoring the dust, hoping no one notices that the dust ... is not settled. We had a very good logo by a regional arist, Native American & North Dakotan. I'm guessing the new logo firm didn't settle for the same $2000 the last artist was paid.

No Wheat Kings because it's masculine? Then Wheat Monarchs? Could be the Whole Grain Monarchs ... with the occasional gluten-free night, think of the possibilities. Wheat Kings is a good name ... for Brandon MB ... which means it's been done. Don't do the done.

When the window of opportunity opens in which to actually pick a nickname, I say ignore it. Let it be a non-event. At least until the people of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe are heard via a general ballot of tribal members & not by a vote of the tribal council. But until then I'm OK with "North Dakota" for a while ... perhaps quite a while.

The idea to nickname UND "The North Dakota Originals" was inspired by the Oakland Athletics? The same Athletics who where the Kansas City Athletics before Oakland ... who where the Philadelphia Athletics before Kansas City ... I'm not feeling the same inspiration.

I was very uncomfortable when last season I heard our new conference referred to as "The Super Conference" ... "Arrogant" is what I thought. Now, more than halfway through the season the super conf has only one team in top 16 of pairwise. That team, St. Cloud had to lobby to get an invite, as I remember they were not asked at the start. Maybe Norte Dame knew something when they took a pass on their invitation. UND has been winning more of late but based on the pairwise and the natl. polls there really is little on our dance-card that will improve our standing. St. Cloud is out there for a second series so that's a good thing. If we keep winning I would think we'll crack the top 16. Who woulda thunk?

3rd foul up? In how long? Most recent is theft of $4? Too stupid for words and part of me says, "Ya can't fix stupid." On the other hand a little (or perhaps a whole bunch of) tough love did wonders for Frattin.

Fire Hak? Good grief, all over again. If indeed we were bad, we could always go from bad to worse. And then we could play against his team when someone picks him up. Denver & BU were recently replacing coaches. How would you like to look across the rink & instead of seeing G-Woz with the Pioneers, seeing Hak. Sure I want another national title ... and another ... and ... ... but in the meantime it's been a helluva ride and a helluva lotta fun watching Sioux kids play in the pros. (I just read the first post, ARGH! Satire you say? ... channelling Roseanne Rosannadanna, "Never mind.")
