"But he's the radio guy, not the beat writer!  There's a world of difference!" - smooth brained Duluth fans defending it

Excellent insult.

Sadly the smooth-brained Duluth fans won't know they're being insulted.

Sandy:  Wasn't that a major!?!?!

Reff:  Your guy was barely bodied and threw himself into the wall to draw a major penalty.

Sandy:  Then why didn't you call it a dive?

Reff:  Because Bruce Ciskie would've had a stroke in the radio booth, and we'd have to hold up the game.  You're welcome for not calling the dive.

The Verhoeff hit occurs with 7:28 left in the 3rd. Bibby skates to the corner, stops, looks over his shoulder, sees Verhoeff, feels contact and jumps into the boards. Verhoeff immediately puts his hand up like “Are you kidding me?”
Announcers comments BEYOND rediculous. Implying same hit as Strathman received. And “Even worse” ??
Guys, he was closer to the boards which is better.
I’m pleasantly surprised the stripes got it right. Maybe they’re on to the Duluth diving team.

I mean, there really is a difference. Ciskie was being an unreasonable baby as per usual, but the standards for radio guys and writers are very different. You won’t see Matt Wellens whining on social media like Ciskie. Although very few media folk whine as much as Ciskie lol

You're right, I didn't include the full context. They use(d) this justification to incessantly harass about being a homer while Ciskie.... exists. Their lines of attack were smooth-brained: referring to UMD as Duluth means UND should be referred to as Grand Forks, Brad let the administration off easy for cutting the women's team, etc.

During pregame interview Jax made it sound like a rest day saying we’re managing his past injuries

Same in Schloss’ article today. Basically he is a little banged up and unfortunately plays through a lot of pain even on a good day. He probably could have played, but they want to do their best to have him available and feeling as good as possible for the stretch run.

The on ice officials know who dives, but having a “list” I easier than seeing it live on ice level.

y’all don’t really understand officiating ice hockey other than what y’all want for your favorite team.

I’m surprised you know how to use the internet.

Imagine a world in which Schloss posts a tweet about something like this. That world does not exist as he is a professional and the darn good one

The fact that Bruce isn't on X and only on I am a victim social tells me all I need to know.

He left X last November. He killed his account.

I regularly listen to Ciskie’s radio shows when he’s talking college hockey and he comes across agreeable and knowledgeable. He had a nice informative interview with Brad Schlossman last week.

He was probably on his best behavior then. One of my media friends who used to do the PxP for a certain CCHA team was sitting with me in the press box during the Final Five, and he was perusing Ciskie's Twitter feed, and he asked me, " Does he tweet during all of the games. He couldn't believe it. It came off as fanboyish behavior.

Gotta have a filter when you are the voice for any college level operation.

Your takes also can't blindly contradict what 99% of people saw with their eyes as well.

At some point you'd think the Sports Information Director for UMD athletics would tell him to get away from keyboard warrior moments during games.

Congrats to Minnesota-Duluth for failing to win a regular season conference title for the 33rd consecutive season!

Yeah, I dusted off a post from 5 years ago. I'm not very original.

…and if my count is correct, we have won 13 league titles since then, 14 if we can finish it off this year.

He's knowledgeable about college hockey. He just bleeds Maroon and Gold, hard.

Amsoil (and maybe western) seems to be the only other good NCHC atmosphere outside of UND.

SCSU - boring

Miami - lame

CC - snooze

Denver - underwhelming

Omaha - meh

Really sad to visit these barns now. Going to those St. Cloud games in the past, you were luck to get a standing room only spot on the wall in a packed house. The student section was a gong show, in a good way, loved the chants & ripping the opposing team. Always got greasy! Saw Commodore break a guys nose with 1 punch after the Clownie broke his stick cross checking Blake Sr. & tossed it into the NoDak bench. All Blaiser had to do was give a nod & that big orange afro destroyed the guy. Denver never had a great student section, but they were smart fans. No cheering for a 1 on 3 breakaway like Goofer fans.

Same I muted it for both games after the first period Friday.

Usually one of the broadcasters is OK on these out of town games, not those asshats. Take the St. Cloud example, play-by-play guy is awesome, so smooth. But then you got to listen to someone's dumba$$ little kid brother who spouts nonsense chatter in your ear every chance there's a moment of silence. It's a brutal trade off.

First world problems. Could be worse. We could all be NBA fans. 🤮
