Good. That’s what happens with good programs at this level. Coaches move on up.

Exactly.  If guys have chances to move up the team has most likely been successful.  And if the team is successful, it makes it much easier to replace a coach that moves on with an attractive candidate.

I don’t know for sure but seems like Jimmy wanted to pound the rock and I wouldn’t say that exactly aligns with Danny’s style. I would think Schmidt would want to pound the rock as well but maybe not as extreme as Jimmy wanted out in Wazzu?

I don't think Schmidt would bring in someone that doesn't align with his vision of the program.

I didn’t think Roger’s would bring in someone that didn’t align with his vision for the program yet here we are

Schmidt knows he needs to fix the offense. If he thinks this is a good hire, I am inclined to believe him. If Danny ends up being Fruechte 2.0, I will not hesitate to call out Schmidt AND Danny for it.

We will find out what balance they choose to strike this season. Not being able to pass the ball killed us against whatever state down in Texas. It was too easy for them to tee off on our run game.

He was pass game coordinator so yes he did call plays at SDSU. Get your facts straight.

not looking to be snarky but I'd assume that OC has final say on play calling.

The passing game coordinator generally develops the passing game routes, passing game plan, etc. and provides input but doesn't call plays.

Reading online, that seems like the normal setup.  Maybe they had a different arrangement

Well he was technically Co-Offensive Coordinator w/ Ryan Olson who is now at Northwestern. Ryan was the O-line coach and run game specialist while at SDSU. I think in passing down situations Danny made the call...

Judging by how the WSU offense performed without Rodgers, I'd guess he and Danny were butting heads throughout the season regarding play-calling.

Maybe it was the change in conferences and location?  Midwest OL and running game vs Northwest producing QB and WRs.

I am a long ways from a coaching expert, but Rogers ascent has seemed a bit odd and overzealous to me. Took over for a legend at SDSU, only 2 years of great success, moved to WSU for 2 years with marginal success. Now moving to ISU and 50 players there hit the portal.  Seems like some or all of this is premature.  Also odd that he could not find a way to fit Danny into his plans somewhere after Danny made the move to Brookings.  FWIW.

I agree with you, but everyone seems to want a so called 'hot and upcoming' young coach these days.

Michigan taking Utah's coach though was the exact opposite of that. He seems like a good guy and I'll be rooting for him to do well, even though I'm not necessarily a Michigan fan.
